There’s a certain energy you feel when a stylist is fully present.
Not rushing, not distracted but just focused, connected, and enjoying the work.

That energy translates into everything.
The consultation, the service, the final result.

For our guests, it means feeling comfortable and cared for.
For our stylists, it means creating in a space that supports both artistry and well-being.

If you’ve been craving a salon experience that feels different…

We’d love to welcome you in

When people hear “color specialist,” they usually picture one thing.

Blondes. Which yes. We do attract a lot of foil work fixes from both near and far 🫣

But spend a day in our salon and you’ll see something different than a blonding salon.

A grey touch-up that makes someone feel like themselves again.

A brunette with just enough dimension to catch the light.

A copper that finally feels right.

A blonde that looks expensive without looking overdone.

Some transformations are dramatic.

Some are so subtle you’ll only notice that everything feels…better.

That’s the part we love most.

Because great color isn’t about having one signature look.

It’s about knowing there isn’t one.

The products on our shelves aren’t there because they’re trending.

They’re there because we trust them.

That’s why you’ll now find L’ANZA Haircare throughout KinFolk.

Their philosophy is simple: healthy hair first.

Every shampoo, conditioner, treatment, and styling product is designed towards it. Built to strengthen, protect, and restore the hair while delivering beautiful, wearable results.

We love that they pair advanced science with naturally derived ingredients, so your hair doesn’t just look good when you leave the salon. It continues to feel healthier every time you use it at home.

When we recommend a product, it’s never about adding another bottle to your routine.

It’s about helping you recreate the feeling of a great hair day long after your appointment.

That’s the kind of haircare we believe in

2 types of people in the 🌎

The ones who have had a bob…

…and the ones who are about to realize why everyone keeps cutting one.

A great bob has a way of changing everything.

It makes getting ready feel easier. It gives fine hair more presence. It makes thick hair feel lighter. It brings attention back to your eyes, your jawline, and all the features that make you you.

It’s confident without trying too hard.

Classic, but never boring.

The best part? A well-cut bob doesn’t need hours of styling to look intentional. It moves with you, grows out beautifully, and somehow makes every outfit feel a little more put together.

If you’ve been thinking about making the cut, consider this your sign.

Sometimes a few inches really can change everything.

Hi, I’m Jennapher MzJaySteve 💙Jennapher💙

When I’m not at KinFolk, you’ll probably find me in the gym, trying a new restaurant, planning my next trip, or spending time with my son. I love great conversation, live music, comedy shows, fashion, and collecting experiences that inspire creativity.

I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2012, but my passion started long before I ever picked up a professional brush. What began as a hobby eventually became a calling, leading me to leave a career in medicine to pursue cosmetology full-time

A decision I’ve never looked back on.Today, I specialize in creating beauty that feels authentic to you.

From natural hair care to custom hair color and makeup artistry to event styling.

I love helping every guest express their personal style with confidence. Whether you’re preparing for your wedding day, refreshing your everyday look, or simply taking time for yourself, my goal is to create an experience that leaves you feeling comfortable, cared for, and completely yourself.

Throughout my career I’ve had the opportunity to provide run bridal teams in St. Thomas, work backstage for Detroit fashion shows, and attend some of the beauty industry’s most inspiring events.

Every experience has shaped the way I approach beauty with intention, creativity, and a commitment to continued education.

What matters most to me is how you feel when you leave my chair. I believe the best appointments begin with listening. Taking the time to understand your goals, prioritize the health of your hair, and pay attention to every detail so your results feel effortless and truly fit your lifestyle.

If you’re searching for a hairstylist and makeup artist in Royal Oak who values healthy hair, versatile styling, natural beauty, custom color, and a welcoming, judgmentfree experience, I’d love to welcome you to my chair

“I want dimension.” But I don’t know what to book

It’s one of the most common things we hear behind the chair but what does it actually mean?

For some, it’s soft ribbons of brightness around the face. For others, it’s richer lows that create depth, or subtle shifts in tone that make the hair feel more alive.

The truth is, “dimensional color” isn’t one service. It’s the result.

That’s why you don’t need to know the right words before you come in.

For a more subtle change book a New Guest Partial Highlight.

For a more dynamic change book a New Guest Full Foil Highlight

Bring the inspiration photo. Tell us what you love. Tell us what you don’t. Tell us how often you want to come back.

We’ll take it from there.

The best color isn’t about asking for the right technique.

It’s about creating the right hair for you.

Let’s talk about “dimension.”

Natural doesn’t mean invisible.

It means color that belongs to you.

Maybe that’s soft brightness around your face. Maybe it’s deeper pieces that create contrast. Maybe it’s a brunette that catches the light differently every time you move.

The goal isn’t to make it look like you just left the salon.

The goal is to make people wonder why your hair always looks so good.

That’s the beauty of dimension. It’s less about looking “done” and more about creating movement, depth, and softness that still feels like you.

You don’t have to know how to ask for it.

You just have to know how you want your hair to feel.

From the beginning, the space was inspired by the feeling of a well-loved vintage shop.

Collected pieces. Warm wood. Soft lighting.

Furniture with a little history. Nothing too polished or perfect just thoughtful, familiar, and full of character.

We wanted the salon to feel less like somewhere you had to perform and more like somewhere you could settle in.

A little nostalgic. A little unexpected. Comfortable in a way that still felt special.

These photos hold so much of where KinFolk began. The first version of the space, the details we were drawn to, and the feeling we were trying to create before we had the words for it.

Now, as KinFolk begins to change again, we are looking back at what made it feel like us in the first place.

Not to leave it behind.
To carry the best parts forward. 07/08/2026

There is something different about a salon where people feel settled.

The conversations come easier. The work feels more considered. The room has a little more ease to it.

At KinFolk, we care about creating that kind of space for the people in the chair and the people behind it.

A place where good work can happen naturally.

Where creativity has room.

Where being cared for is part of the experience.

Sometimes the right fit is something you feel before you can explain it. 07/06/2026

A great haircut should make your hair easier to live in.

It should fall into place, move naturally, and still look good on the days you do very little to it.

The same is true for brunette color. The right tone and placement can make everything feel softer, richer, and more balanced without looking heavy or overdone.

When the cut and color are designed together, the difference is in the details. Layers that support the shape. Weight removed where it needs to be. Dimension that moves through the hair instead of sitting on top of it.

The result is hair that feels polished, but never fussy.

Hair that works with you, even after you leave the salon.

Walk in, set everything down, and just… slow down for a minute.

To have someone actually take their time with my hair. To not feel rushed, or like I’m just the next appointment.

There’s something about this space that feels different.
The light, the warmth, the way everything looks intentional without trying too hard.

Imagine sitting in this chair and finally feeling taken care of.
Not just leaving with good hair, but leaving feeling lighter than when you walked in.

If you’ve been looking for a salon that feels a little calmer, a little more thoughtful, a little more like you…

Maybe it’s time to see what it feels like for yourself.
