Join us for Culture is Prevention for a two-part Moccasin Making series on Tuesday, September 8th and Tuesday, September 22nd, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM in our Youth and Family Space at SNAHC Florin Road.

Led by Frances Rocha (Pasqua-Yaqui and Chiricahua Apache), this hands-on cultural series will guide participants through the process of moccasin making. This is a two-part workshop, and participants are required to attend BOTH workshop dates to complete the series.

All supplies will be provided, and a light meal will be available at both workshops. Space and materials are limited to 40 participants, and pre-registration is required. Those who do not make it into the class will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if a space becomes available.

C.O.R.E. is a place to learn, ask questions, build relationships, and discover what you’re capable of alongside Native youth from across California. No organizing experience is required; just a willingness to show up, grow, and learn together. 🌱

Throughout August, the Poor People's Campaign, Sacramento held a host of Moral Mondays in Sacramento that brought our community together to address the disastrous budget cuts to our most marginalized and on going policy decisions that impact our neighbors unhoused. We grew up looking out for each other here in Sactown no matter the dark sad attempts to divide and exploit going on now. It is a privilege to call this city home and be surrounding by community that believes and walks alongside others to assure everyone is cared for

Through our CLAP Connect Form alone reveals a profound crisis of systemic abandonment affecting marginalized residents in Sacramento, particularly Black women who disproportionately carry the burden of shortages of stable housing, financial distress,exacerbated by a lack of transportation, and a critical absence of culturally competent essential services. We continue to come to terms that there are those who use their multiple resources to seed a network (financial, social engineering, time) to coordinate division, cruelty, and to prove to be "so right". This happens on a large or small scale usually at the expense of vulnerable or marginalized people who don't have the investment of money or time and/or would use their resources for discord.
