I’m still processing how amazing Sunday was…

To see something that started as an idea actually come to life — and to feel the energy in that room — is something I’ll never forget.

Every student showed up with intention.
Every moment was filled with growth, connection, and real learning.

4 things I would do BEFORE I ever start braiding:

1.Check the client’s scalp — not just their hair.
Dryness, buildup, sensitivity… all of that matters. If the foundation isn’t right, your style won’t last and you’ll get blamed for it.

2.Set expectations BEFORE you touch their head.
Length, size, fullness, timing, even how it’s going to feel. A lot of issues don’t come from the work… they come from miscommunication.

3.Pre-section mentally (and sometimes physically).
I’m not just parting randomly — I already know how many braids I’m doing, how they’re going to fall, and how it’ll look styled. That’s how you get clean, even results every time.
Control the environment.

4. Temperature, seating, lighting, distractions. If your client is uncomfortable or you’re not locked in, your speed AND quality will suffer.

This is the difference between just braiding and being a professional.
