When I think about Black history,

I think about a conversation I had with a friend—
how she spoke so vividly about her homeland,
where her culture began,
where her roots live in the soil.

And when it was my turn,
I realized my story sounded different.

I didn’t talk about one place.
I talked about moments.
Memories.
Experiences.
Inside jokes.
Potlucks.
Laughter that filled rooms we built ourselves.

And that’s when it hit me—
Black history lives in the stories we were never allowed to forget.

It’s hearing the voices of our ancestors
and choosing to carry them forward.

It’s working hard.
Being resilient.
Leading with love—
boldly and unapologetically.

Black history is innovation born from necessity.
It’s using the hardest times as measuring tools,
not standards.

Making the best of what you have,
nourishing it,
and watching it bloom.

Black history reminds me that we can do anything.

And now,
we’re creating something new—
a future homeland.

One where the next generation
can tell their stories freely,
safely,
boldly..

🎁 TOY DRIVE
We’re collecting new, unwrapped toys for children ages 0–19. You can also pick up a Wish Star in-store at Beyoutifully Bare to fulfill a specific child’s Christmas wish.

💛 TEEN SMELL-GOOD KITS
Teens are often overlooked during holiday donations, so we’re assembling 100 Smell-Good Kits filled with body care, scents, and essentials they rarely (if ever) receive. We’re asking for donations to help purchase ingredients, containers, and boxes so these teens feel valued and seen this Christmas.

Both projects support the Sacramento Children’s Home and families throughout the community — and BOTH need our village to make them happen.

The Power of Just One Facial

During her consultation, we talked through her long-term skin goals. But for this very first facial, my focus was simple: exfoliation, barrier repair, and hydration.

Why? Because skin gets HANGRY too! Just like our bodies need real nourishment, our skin sometimes just needs to “eat” before it can even begin to address deeper concerns.

On July 29th, I lost a dear friend and client, Jeporia N. Hughley, to pancreatic cancer..it’s taken a while to post this because it’s taken me a while to process and accept it.

She became my client ok 12/4/21, but she quickly became so much more. We talked about everything- family, friends, life-and she gave me advice like a big sister..

I loved her style; she always had a different hairstyle and wore it with so much confidence. She showed up for me ALWAYS- helping at events, bringing me her famous pot roast, sharing stories that made me laugh and think, I mean down to her neighbors. We never had enough time during appointments, we’d talk all the way to her car or until my next client arrived..

She embodied strength, trust and humility. She was the queen of doing it herself, with a smile so bright (and I mean bright- she had the whitest teeth! You see her!) she was a BOSS! A QUEEN. A MOTHER. THE BEST GRANDMOTHER. A DAUGHTER. And to me- she was the BEST friend!!

When she was diagnosed with cancer, I saw her transform into a living example of faith. I’m not sure what she felt inside, but on the outside she radiated calm, peace, and so much love. We held hands in silence and that was enough. We kept saying we needed to take a picture, and though we never did, I found the perfect one in our text thread. Her last appointment with me was 6/25/25.

I will miss our talks, I will miss our laughter..but most of all I will miss her. Thank you, Jeporia, for the love, the lessons, and the light you brought into my life. You will never, ever be forgotten 🤍
