April’s curl journey is the perfect reminder that healthy curls and intentional color are a process…not a one-visit miracle ✨

At visit #1, we uncovered years of back-and-forth light to dark color history that had left her curls dehydrated, overly stretched, and brassy. Our focus wasn’t “big transformation” energy yet…it was rebuilding the foundation. Hydration, bond repair, improving curl memory, bounce, and resilience. Setting her curls (and scalp confidence!) up for future color success.

Between visits, April spent time thinking about her gray journey and how much natural she was truly ready to embrace. Her answer? Less maintenance…without fully letting go of coverage. And honestly? That kind of clarity matters.

Visit #2 was all about refinement and intention:
✨ Curl cut maintenance to continue reshaping and removing overly stretched ends
✨ A melted-in dimensional base color for softer, more translucent gray blending
✨ Strategic highlights placed carefully to brighten and soften grow-out WITHOUT overlapping previously stressed hair
✨ A complimentary custom Repair Treatment (custom treatment included for all visit #2 guests!)
✨ Routine refresh + consultation to fine tune what’s working and what isn’t

And the result? Stronger, curlier, more hydrated curls with better definition and consistency. Softer, dimensional color that will grow out gracefully. Easier styling. More resilience. More confidence.

I can’t wait to see where visit #3 takes us

Ever feel like you’re the only one with “2 heads of hair”? You’re not - and honestly, I get this question ALL the time.

The truth is, it’s actually way more common to have multiple curl patterns and textures on one head than it is to have perfectly uniform curls.

Different sections can curl, wave, stretch, or behave completely differently… and that’s normal.

While we can’t change how your hair naturally grows, we can change how we work with it to create a more cohesive look and feel.

Here’s how:
1️⃣ A curl-focused cut
A proper curl cut can help balance varying patterns, encourage curl in lazier sections, and create overall harmony. Traditional cuts can sometimes highlight texture differences even more, making them feel more noticeable.

2️⃣ Intentional styling
Different products and styling techniques can help blend and diffuse varying patterns for better visual balance and consistency. Sometimes small tweaks make a huge difference.

You don’t need “perfect” curls to have beautiful hair. You just need the right approach.

Life has definitely been “on the go” this week. I had the absolute privilege of being invited back to the Thrivers X Retreat in San Antonio, and what an incredible few days it’s been. So much connection, inspiration, and next-level education surrounded by some of the best in the industry.

One of my favorite parts? Getting to share the week with some of my favorite people.

Being in a room full of amazing curl specialists, studio suite owners, stylists, coaches, and fellow small business owners always fills my cup in the best way. There’s something so powerful about being around people who truly understand the passion, challenges, creativity, and growth that comes with this industry.

And of course, huge gratitude to Britt Seva for creating spaces like this where we can learn, connect, grow, and continue pushing the industry forward.

Feeling inspired, energized, and so thankful to do what I do.

The new guest consult experience here is just that, an experience. Not boxes checked, not a rushed conversation. From the moment you walk in, we ease into it together. You’ll get a little tour of the suites, settle in, and get something cozy in your hand - a handcrafted coffee, a Diet Coke (because yes, that absolutely counts), or water if it's hydration time.

Then, the guest consult form. The perfect tool to help you to share in your own words...Your goals. Your frustrations. Your routine. Your history. What’s worked, what hasn’t, and what you’re honestly willing (and not willing) to do.

And THEN… we talk about your hair. Using the consult form as our guide- we talk it all out...and come up with a plan. Comfort, coffee, and consults all go hand in hand here - for your best experience and your best curls.

What’s it like here? It’s whatever you need it to be that day.

Work a little.
Relax a little.
Catch up… or just catch your breath.

Some days we chat the whole appointment. Some days it’s quiet, and that’s exactly what you needed. No pressure. No expectations. No apologies.

Just a private little safe haven for your curls - and for whatever your heart and mind need.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms out there ❤ And a special shoutout to the mamas who detangle, set, and strategize for those little curls, teens, and all of the in-between…you know who you are.

The patience, the care, the intention - it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Even if your kiddos have no clue just yet how lucky they are…or what a gift it is to grow up learning to love their hair from the very start.

I see you. Thanks for doing what you do. Happy Mother's Day!

I get it, truly. As a curly girl myself… I’ve been in that spiral of what do I do, what do I use, who do I trust? Been there. Done that. For years, my curls and I were in a full-on love/hate relationship. And the wild part? Even as a hairstylist, I didn’t actually know how to support them so they could thrive on their own.

Then one day, I decided it was time. No more blowouts. I quit cold turkey. And that’s when the healing started. Healing from years of chemical straightening, relentless heat, and layer after layer of smoothing silicone.

It wasn’t instant...but it was worth it. Because on the other side? A whole new world. One I could never go back from.

Overwhelmed with your curls? Yeah… I get it. So many voices, so many products, so many “must-do” steps. It’s a lot.

When things start to feel noisy, shrink it down.
Come back to the basics...

Clean hair.
Hydrated hair.
Protected hair.

That’s it. That’s the foundation.

You don’t need more - you just need clarity. And from there, everything gets a whole lot easier.

Nighttime routine - are you an evening styling person? For some of us, nighttime is absolutely the right time to style.

Pros of a nighttime routine: you’re not rushed, you may have more energy to actually do all the steps properly, and that often means better results overall. It also gives you time to air dry or diffuse without watching the clock. And the best part? You can wake up to big, voluminous, ready-to-go curls.

But there are downsides too: you really do need your hair 100% dry to avoid frizz, flatness, or distortion overnight. You also have to be intentional - bonnet, satin or silk pillowcase - because protecting your curls while you sleep becomes non-negotiable. And depending on your hair, you may wake up closer to a “day 2” look already… which is either a win or something to plan for if longevity is your goal.

The truth is, there’s no right or wrong here.

Just what works best for your life, your routine, and your curls.

Morning person? Are you a morning curl routine kind of person? Because there are real pros - and real tradeoffs.

On the plus side: day 1 is truly your day 1. No compressed curls, no pulling things apart later. You can set your shape intentionally from the start and often get better longevity - meaning more days between wash and reset. There’s also the option to air dry and go, and less need for refreshing throughout the week.

But there are cons too: less volume right out of the gate for some curl types, and precious morning time spent styling when you’re trying to get out the door.

So I always ask - are you a morning person… as in a morning styling person?

Because the best routine is the one that actually fits your life;)
