With the rise of COVID cases on the national and state level, Governor Scott has decided NOT to lessen the restrictions on hair and nail salons at this time. Disheartening to say the least.... but what does that currently mean for us, as winter is fast approaching? Salons are still limited to 25% capacity, which means different allowances for different sized salons. For Rail City Salon, it means we can only have 10 people in the salon at one time, with no waiting area most days. To help navigate Vermont’s notorious winters and Vermont’s reluctance to acknowledge our sector’s ZERO coronavirus case accomplishments, RCS has updated our Point of Sale system with both contactless check-in and payment options. You can now check in from the warmth of your car!
We’ll be making sure we have your current cellphone number on file, and in addition to receiving confirmation texts, you’ll be able to check in, change, cancel an appointment, and pay using your smartphone.

Rail City Salon’s stats. There have been zero Covid cases traced back to our salon (along with our peer salons in the community). Why? Because we respect and care for everyone’s health and safety, and will continue to go above and beyond with our sanitation and disinfection practices. And masks are always a must!

5/22/2020 UPDATE:

May 29th! That’s the magic date, everyone! According to Governor Scott’s most recent press conference, he has given VT salons the greenlight to reopen for business next week.

PLEASE READ:

We have NOT received guidelines or precautions from the state in order to reopen YET. Once they are published, I will relay them as soon as possible.

Please be patient with stylists. We have over 8 weeks of clients to reschedule, and will contact you within the next week to book your much anticipated appointment. Scheduling protocols can be seen in my previous post that I’m re-sharing below (Rail City Salon page also).

Please note that the Governor has given salons a week to prepare with the “TBD” guidelines. While I’ve been pre-emptively acquiring supplies all along, some salons might have difficulty obtaining some of the now back ordered supplies crucial to reopening, resulting in possible postponement of their opening.
