Hello everyone,

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful day. This post is obviously quite overdue, but also some recent news. I’m honored to be the recipient of both a 2022, and 2023 Best in Saint Augustine award! The even better news is the category… Most would be correct if you guessed in the Massage Therapist category.

However, both of the awards are for the Health, Medical and Pharmacy category! I’m so thankful, especially because this is a voter driven award. Please continue to support this type of work.

Thank you so much to all my clients over the past 11 years! I absolutely love my job. It’s so rewarding to see my clients feel, and keep doing better & better.

Humbly,

Caleb Hicks

Hello everyone,
I hope you’re doing great. It’s time to follow my own advice, and put it out on social. I’m looking for my own location! If you know of a room for rent in St. Aug, please let me know. Nothing fancy, but ADA accessible is preferred. Please DM me with leads or questions. I’d prefer to be on the mainland, and NOT in the historic district.
Thank you to all my amazing clients who’ve made this possible!

Hello Everyone,
I hope this finds you well. Recently a client encouraged me to demystify, or to clarify massage. That’s a big ask! See, massage is like most things in life, it comes in a wide variety.
On one end, you have your basic relaxation, or Swedish massage. That’s a very light touch, usually not much, if any stretching. Great to unwind after a long day, or stressful day/event.
On the other end, I’d say is where I specialize. It’s very specific, sometimes deeper pressure to rehabilitate an injury, or to deal with chronic pain. This can also include terms like: sports medicine, Neuro Muscular Therapy, medical massage, etc…
In-between each end is definitely a bit of a grey area. How does one figure out what you need, and the right therapist for you, or your issue. It’s all about communication. The client being honest about what’s going on, and what goals they have.
On the therapist side, we need to be willing to say no to a client if we know they are not who we usually help. Or, in my case, I have a long list of people waiting to be seen. If I start seeing people outside my specialty, it takes away from the people who need the rehabilitation work, and takes away from another therapist.
In the end, that benefits everyone! So, if you reach out to someone, and they say that they can’t help you, or your better off with another person, it’s only for your benefit. Relaxation massage puts ME to sleep! 😳😂
Anyway, I hope that little piece of the puzzle helps, as this is a big/complicated topic!
I hope you all have a great day!

In my work, I’m constantly reassessing. You need to be willing to scrap your whole plan if it’s not working! (In life as well!)

Hello everyone,
I hope this finds you well. I wanted to just take a moment of your time to break the news that MASSAGE IS A DYING INDUSTRY! This is a long discussion, but this has been coming for over five years.
It’s very difficult to get in, and a lot of us aren’t even taking new clients. I’m booked months out on some days. Please take care of yourselves! Plan a head & drink lots of water!
Until next time,
Caleb

Hello everyone,

I hope this finds you well. First, I assure you that getting a massage these days can be, and is very safe. We are trained in infectious diseases and avoiding cross contamination. Every one of my clients gets clean sheets, and everything is wiped down and disinfected, every time. The only thing I’ve added is changing my shirt if a clients arm or leg touches it, and wearing a mask.

I’m also now offering free phone consultations to either put you at ease, or provide suggestions if you are far away. I completely understand that there is a lot of... lower quality massages out in the world. I find that a conversation with me will quickly provide proof that I’m very knowledgeable and passionate about this work.

Having ten years experience doing this full time has provided me with a lot of opportunities to learn from my, and others mistakes. Most of my “pet peeves” in this career are from watching others and thinking, “Well I’ll never do it that way!” So please allow me the privilege of showing you what massage can, and should be.

Please never hesitate to reach out, I’m happy to help.

Thank you,

Hello Everyone,

I hope this finds you well. Today is a special day to thank a veteran. Not only should you thank a vet, but I’d really appreciate it if you would continue to thank them every day.
In addition, I’m going to make a renewed effort to thank the “Vintage“ Vet. What I mean by that, for example, is the “Old Guy” wearing his Vietnam hat. That person has seen and done things for this country that he/they often relive on a daily basis.
Thank you. Thank you to all who put on a uniform for this country, past and present. Notice I said uniform, not a specific branch. From red to blue to green, and all colors in between.

Thank you.
