Introducing The Permanent Method

In collaboration with Jonelle Salzman, founder of the Archery Collective

At The Permanent Method, we believe exceptional artistry in the permanent makeup industry begins with exceptional education. Our mission is to empower our students with the most in-depth knowledge, technical skill, and confidence to build successful and sustainable careers in permanent makeup. Our curriculum goes far beyond the typical industry standard 2-5 day course; it’s our belief that aspiring permanent makeup artists need and deserve more. We provide a comprehensive learning experience rooted in anatomy, color theory, safety, precision, artistry, and business strategy. Our three-week fundamental permanent brow and lip courses are the most in depth you will find in the area. Whether you are beginning your journey in permanent makeup or advancing your skills, in our permanent makeup training program you will receive hands on instruction, personalized mentorship, and a proven training system that sets you up for the utmost success.

The fundamental permanent brow and lip blushing training:

Our fundamental training program consists of an immersive three-week course for brows ($3,500), with the option to add on lip blushing (+$1,500). We also offer a standalone lip blushing training ($1,850). Each of our courses include latex and artificial skin exercises, live demonstration days, and supervised work on live models.

What we cover:

- Sanitation, infection and cross contamination prevention.

- Client consultation, contraindications, and informed consent.

- Skin anatomy, skin types, and Fitzpatrick classifications.

- Color theory and pigment chemistry.

- Equipment training – tattoo machines and needle configurations.

- Technical skill training – shading vs hair stroke hand movements, and hair patterns.

- Mapping (brows and/or lips) and the procedure pre draw.

- The healing process and aftercare protocol.

- Photography and how to curate a portfolio.

- Evaluating healed results and touch up protocols.

Class Dates & Schedule

Brows Only: October 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, or 21

Brows + Lips: October 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, or 22

Lips Only: October 5, 8, 15, or 22


Our next training class will be offered in Spring 2027.

The apprenticeship program:

We also offer an apprenticeship program for students completing the 200 supervised hours required for Body Art Practitioner licensure through the Minnesota Department of Health. Minnesota residents interested in completing their apprenticeship with us should contact us as early as possible to check availability.

During the apprenticeship, you will work with your own clients under our supervision, collect payment from them directly, and submit a weekly payment to us based only on the hours completed that week that count toward your apprenticeship. There is no booth rent or commission. Apprentices have access to our treatment rooms and resources six days a week and may schedule clients as often as availability allows, giving you the flexibility to complete your hours at your own pace.

What you will need to start:

1. Class registration ($850 non-refundable deposit to hold your space in class).

2. State approved bloodborne pathogens certification (link to classes we like is sent at the completion of registration).

3. Temporary body art license filed with the department of health (if you are wanting to participate in live model work, more info below).

Important information:

If you are a Minnesota resident, please complete the application for a Temporary Tattoo License at least 14 days before class starts. Failure to do so will result in you not being able to take a live model. If you are an out of state resident, you may need to apply for a guest license, contact us for more information.

Class deposits are nonrefundable and may be transferred once to the next class given a 45 day notice. The remainder of the class balance is due one week before class starts.

The class will take place at the Archery Collective, at 1330 Jersey Ave S, St Louis Park, MN 55426. Lunch will be provided on training days that are scheduled over 4 hours. You are welcome to bring snacks and your own meals for break time. Missing any scheduled days will result in incompletion of the course and failure to receive your certificate.

If you have registered for the brows only course and would like to add on lips, please reach out to us directly as soon as possible. We ask for 30 days or more notice before class starts to add on the lip program, subject to availability.

Love this powder brow transformation 😍 this client scheduled a complimentary consultation before her service (link in bio!) to discuss her options before booking her appointment.

The consultation is an optional 20 minute sit down where we talk about your preferences, I can see how you do your makeup, and then I do a rough draft with a brow pencil of what brow tattoo could look like! If you want to book a service that day you can, or if you need to think about it that’s totally ok too! You get to wear the shape home and get used to them, then come back to your service with any feedback or changes you want to make. This client came back a few weeks later for her service and wanted a little straighter brows, so we mapped them out and tattooed them. They will heal a bit more neutral and smaller, as the skin gets swollen the day of the tattoo.

The consultation is totally optional, and if you skip it we still will spend 20-40 minutes mapping out the perfect shape for you. It’s a great option for clients who are unsure about their preference or have previous work that needs to get looked at in person before scheduling.
