You cannot spray tan over a sunburn, even if your skin looks like it’s “back to normal.”

Spray tan solution only develops on the very top layer of your skin. After a sunburn, that layer is compromised and your body is still shedding damaged skin underneath, even after redness fades.

⏳ Healing time matters:�Mild sunburns typically take 3–7 days to heal, more moderate burns can take 1–2 weeks, and in some cases up to 4–6 weeks for the skin barrier to fully recover. Even when it looks healed, your skin may still be repairing underneath.

If you tan too soon, the spray tan will develop on unstable skin that’s preparing to peel, which leads to uneven fading, patchiness, and shorter-lasting results.

This is also why you may notice rough or dry areas darken differently, especially as peeling begins.

For the best glow, I always recommend waiting until your skin is fully healed: no peeling, no flaking, and no tenderness.
