It’s been 1 year working at Kris & Co Hair Studio, since giving up the suite life and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to slow down.

I’m a perfectionist, and I take a lot of pride in everything I do. I like to post my accomplishments. With that.
I don’t view other stylists as competition, we’re all amazing in our own way. I’m always happy to admit when someone’s better at something than I am.
No matter how much I improve my skills, I’ll probably always second-guess myself… because that’s how much I care.

I’m beyond thankful and amazed that some of my clients have been with me for years, most from 2019. Some I’ve know longer than they’ve known their husbands. Some I’ve done their prom hair & now they are bringing me their little ones. You’re just like family to me. Your support means everything.

Formula Drop!
I love when other stylists share their formulas, so I’m making it a goal to start posting mine more often!

Lightening
My go-to? L’Oréal Blond Studio 9 with bonder inside. For the past three years, I haven’t gone above 20 volume on the scalp, and the results speak for themselves! Lower volume means less risk—if there’s accidental overlap, the hair is much safer at 20 vol. Anything higher? Your clients scalp will be uncomfortable. (I can speak from personal experience) Sure, you might be at the salon longer but the reward is healthier, stronger hair that can actually grow long and stay healthy.

Toning
I never stick to the same toner for every client or even repeat the same formula every visit. It all depends on the vibe they’re after that day. Some of my girls come in knowing exactly what they loved last time or excited to switch it up, and that trust and comfort mean everything to me.

👩🏽‍🦳 BLEACH & TONE

When every strand of hair is chemically altered, skipping heat protectant, using hotel shampoos, or jumping into a pool full of chlorine can cause serious damage.

I need to know everything put into your hair.
Some people have stronger natural hair, but once bleach is involved, it’s no longer about genetics it’s all about proper care.

Here are some improtant info that should be working for you daily:

Shower Filter:
Your water might be full of impurities, which can affect your hair. A shower filter is an essential step to protect your hair.

Metal Detox:
Metals in water can build up in your hair. A filter that neutralizes these metals before you even shampoo can make a huge difference.

Heat Protectant:
NEVER skip this step. The damage from heat styling without protection is real!

Heat Tools:
Believe it or not air-drying is NOT ALWAYS better. Blow drying with the right products can actually help them pe*****te deeper. But, be mindful of how often you use hot tools & the right tools make all the difference.

Ponytails & Claw Clips:
They can cause a lot of tension on your hair.

Don’t get confused Margret just gets a haircut. No color. Just the occasional purple shampoo. She says she gets so many compliments after she leaves, nothing makes me feel better than to hear that. Got to freshen her up just before Christmas. She’s the lady you wish was everyone’s grandma. It’s also her birthday this weekend. Help me wish her the happiest birthday!

Ever wonder why I dress up to do hair at weddings? 💍 It’s not just for me. When the photographer or videographer captures those intimate ‘getting ready’ shots, I want to blend seamlessly into those photos. & maybe even use them myself! But if anyone has a trick to getting ready at 4:30AM while battling watering eyes I’m all ears! 👂🏼

Leave it to Gabby to hold me accountable for taking pictures 🫣 & I’m not mad about it ? IS THAT MISS UNIVERSE? am I the only one who sees the resemblance? I have been wanting to do a high pile updo for a while now. So glad Updos are coming back. Love a good down & curled style but being able to be creative and detailed is more fun for me.
