What do I love most?? Short cuts on women!!!

But anyhoo...this one started out as a high fade- she just wanted to cut it all down and even out so there would be symmetry.

So I started with the fade. But when I reached the top, she decided to keep it longer. I know better than to just hack the front hair off!! And it came to no surprise to me that she liked the length in the front.

So we decided to comb it forward. I added some texture into the top, using the blending shears. And voila! It came out super cute.

I really love the fad that’s in style right now. And they’re some of my absolute favorites to perform.

This is my daughter...again...

After putting multiple box dyes of various colors on her head (against mom’s advice) and then deciding she wanted to take it out...herself (also against Mom’s advice) I eventually did a color correction (you can find that in a previous post)

She decided she wanted to cut it off...the dead ends, primarily.

So we did a zero degree triangle and it turned out super cute.

With only 12 days of school left, I’ve officially gone into beast mode

I’m tying up loose ends and have envisioned and laid out the basic outline for my future business. It just gets me fired up!

A lot of folks in this industry talk about hunger, but there is a HUGE disconnect between that hunger and what it takes to eat! And even folks who are famous on the gram don’t seem to truly understand the difference between self-employment and business ownership.

Worse yet, most of the folks who we know and love for their amazing artistry, are dependent upon promoting other people’s businesses to maintain their level of success. They don’t understand the consumer psychology behind their actions or how to scale their business. And this BREAKS MY HEART!

It’s a mentality shift that’s needed within this industry. There are too many amazing artists who lack the business acumen to move into their full potential.

So about the picture...well this is the latest round of books and goodies from , which is an amazing sales funnel software with an even more amazing network and business coaching program. I’m so stoked to apply everything I’ve learned over the year, to my new business.

Do you struggle with dandruff or flaky scalp?

This is one of the most common issues I have been witnessing since I started barbering
😬
So today I just wanted to throw out a little tip for folks who struggle with dandruff and/or dry, flaky scalp (which is a lot of men)
😱
First off, dandruff and flaky scalp are not the same thing. One is a fungal condition that involves too much oil and the other is a lack of moisture.
🤭
Dandruff treatment requires an anti fungal medicated shampoo (usually bought over the counter) and for severe cases, a doctors prescription.

Dandruff looks like small oily clumps of dry skin flakes.

Dry Scalp, however is due to a lack of moisture, usually for one of three reasons: over washing, general dehydration, lack of sebum production (probably a combination of the three).

White flakes can also be the result of dryness from using too hot of water in the shower, or from product build up, especially if you use heavy pomades and don’t clarify.

Wanna know how to fix it?
🤗
1) be sure to drink plenty of fluids, and eat raw fresh fruits and veggies to ensure you’re staying hydrated.
• 1 great trick is to drink a tea or cold drink first thing in the morning while you’re getting ready for your day; then take a smoothie for breakfast; then take another drink with you to work or start your day, and commit to drinking it before lunch; then drink a large drink with lunch and supper.
2) wash your hair with shampoo about once every week or two. Don’t overdo it, but also, don’t under-do it. If you overdo it you’ll have dry scalp, if you under-do it, you’ll end up with dandruff.

I realized something I’d been doing wrong, which was why I was pushing the lines up

Thankfully we’ve got such a plethora of skill and talent at JM, I keep watching and gradually work out my kinks.

This one turned out better blended than the previous and he was very happy with it. He said it was the best fade he’d gotten so far there, which, although there are plenty of more experienced barbers than me @ JM, made me feel good. Like the work is paying off.

This young man wanted to maintain the messy look and length in the front and top, so I took about an inch off the top and cleaned up the back.

He said he was worried that I’d taken too much off in the front

But once he pulled it all to the front how he liked to style it, he was super pleased and excited about how it turned out.

He said I was the only one in the school “besides the old guy” (the owner) who did his entire cut with shears.
