“Your labs are normal. Everything looks good.”

Cue the rage. 😂 Because ma’am… I do not FEEL good.

You’re exhausted. Your hair is falling out. You’re freezing. Your libido packed its bags and left. You can’t lose weight despite doing “all the right things.” Your periods are changing. You’re anxious, irritable, foggy, and surviving on caffeine and pure determination.

But hey… your labs are “within range.” 🙃

Here’s the thing: being inside a reference range doesn’t automatically explain away your symptoms. Reference ranges are useful, but they’re only one piece of the puzzle.

We need to look at the whole picture: your symptoms, trends over time, nutrition, sleep, stress, medications, menstrual cycle, iron status, thyroid function, metabolic health, hormones when appropriate—and yes, your actual labs.

Sometimes everything truly IS reassuring and we need to look somewhere else.

But “normal” shouldn’t mean we stop asking why you feel like garbage.

Your symptoms deserve context. Your labs deserve interpretation. And YOU deserve more than “everything looks fine.” 👏🏼

Sometimes you know something feels different…you just wish you could SEE it.
Thermography provides a visual look at heat patterns throughout the body, giving you another source of information to consider when looking at your overall wellness.

3 things I wish everyone knew BEFORE starting a GLP-1 medication.

GLP-1 medications have completely changed the conversation around obesity and metabolic health—and they can be incredibly effective tools.

But losing weight and improving health aren’t automatically the same thing.

1. Protein needs to become a priority.
During weight loss, we aren’t only capable of losing body fat—we can lose lean mass too. When appetite decreases significantly, it becomes even easier to unintentionally under-eat protein and total nutrition. The goal isn’t simply a lower number on the scale. We want to support muscle preservation throughout the process.

2. Strength training isn’t optional in my ideal weight-loss plan.
Your muscle matters for strength, function, metabolic health, healthy aging, and maintaining your results long term. Resistance training paired with adequate nutrition gives your body a reason to hold onto that valuable tissue while you’re losing weight.

3. You don’t get bonus points for reaching the highest dose.
This one is HUGE. The goal of a GLP-1 shouldn’t be to completely eliminate your appetite. And dose escalation should follow the specific medication’s prescribing guidance and your individual response—not simply happen because another month has passed.

If you’re responding well, tolerating treatment and able to adequately nourish your body, more medication isn’t automatically better.

I don’t want you afraid of food.
I don’t want you surviving on 700 calories because you’re never hungry.
I don’t want the only measurement of success to be pounds lost.

I want you losing excess body fat while protecting muscle, learning sustainable nutrition habits, getting stronger, and improving your overall metabolic health.

The medication is one tool.

Protein. Muscle. Movement. Nutrition. Sleep. Habits. Those still matter. 👏🏼

Individual treatment and dosing should always be determined with your prescribing clinician and according to the medication’s prescribing information.

**Last year → this year.**

The change you can see is real. But the part that matters most to me is what changed in how I feel.

For me, learning to manage my health and inflammation has taken more than one medication, one supplement, or one perfect routine. It’s meant paying attention to symptoms, looking at the whole picture, and adjusting my care along the way. It’s still a process.

That’s the kind of care I want people to find at Embody Wellness. If you’re navigating Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, symptoms after Lyme disease, or another autoimmune condition, you deserve someone who listens, helps you understand what’s going on, and builds a plan around *you*. That may include nutrition and lifestyle support, appropriate testing, medication, and care alongside your specialists.

These photos tell **my** story. They aren’t a promise of what someone else’s results will look like—and managing a chronic condition isn’t the same as curing it. But feeling heard and having a thoughtful plan? That can be a meaningful place to start. 🤍

On Friday, Embody Wellness visited Durable Barbell Club and completed **24 body composition scans!** 🙌

I love giving people another way to understand their bodies and see progress beyond the number on the scale.

Thank you to Scott, the owner, for welcoming us into his space! I loved the atmosphere, and every person I met had wonderful things to say about Scott and the gym.

If you’re looking for a welcoming fitness community to be part of, I’d definitely recommend checking out Durable Barbell Club. Thank you for having us! 💚

I didn’t lose 100+ pounds because I finally learned how to “try harder.”

I had tried hard before. A LOT.

I had dieted. Restricted. Started over on Monday. Tried to exercise my way out of it. Told myself I needed more discipline, more cardio, fewer calories… all the things we’ve been taught weight loss is supposed to require.

But the biggest change happened when I stopped treating my body like it was a math equation and started asking why it wasn’t responding the way I thought it should.

For me, that meant addressing metabolic health and inflammation, prioritizing protein, building muscle, strength training consistently, and using medication as a tool when appropriate.

And no—I still don’t spend hours doing cardio. 😂
I lift heavy things. I eat. I prioritize muscle. I pay attention to my metabolic health. And I stopped believing that being absolutely miserable was a requirement for maintaining weight loss.

I’ve lost over 100 pounds—and more importantly, I’ve maintained it.

That experience is a huge part of why Embody Wellness exists.

Because sometimes the answer isn’t “try harder.”
Sometimes we need to figure out what’s making it so damn hard in the first place.

Your hormones, insulin sensitivity, sleep, stress, inflammation, nutrition, muscle mass, medications, and lifestyle can all be pieces of the puzzle.

Weight loss should be about building a healthier body you can actually live in—not just making the number on the scale smaller. 💪🏼

Individual results vary. Weight-management medications are not appropriate for everyone and should be prescribed based on individual medical evaluation.

🚨 NEW BLOG DROP: GLP-1 EDITION 🚨

Listen, I prescribe GLP-1s.
I've taken a GLP-1.
I lost over 100 pounds.
I think these medications can be freaking incredible.
BUTTTTTT…we need to talk. 😂

If your current GLP-1 strategy is:
☕ Coffee
🧀 Three bites of something
🥤 Water because “I'm just not hungry!”
💉 GLP-1
✨ Repeat ✨

Friend.
That is not the flex we think it is.
The goal of a GLP-1 isn't to make you never want food again. Hunger is not a medication failure. And losing weight as fast as humanly possible while losing muscle and barely nourishing your body isn't exactly the health transformation we're looking for.

In this week's Embodied Truths, we're talking about ALLLLL of it:
GLP-1s. Food noise. Hunger. Protein. Muscle. Strength training. Why I don't automatically increase someone's dose because they're hungry. What these medications actually do. And what I learned from losing 100+ pounds myself.

Because my job isn't to make you as small as possible.
I want you strong.
I want you nourished.
I want you metabolically healthier.
And I want you building habits that support the body you're working so dang hard for.
GLP-1s can be an incredible tool.
But they're still a tool.

Not the entire toolbox. 🧰

☕ Grab your coffee—or your protein shake, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING EAT SOMETHING WITH IT. 😂

New Embodied Truths is LIVE. 💛
XOXO, Brittany

There are about 13 weeks left in the year. That’s time to make a meaningful difference in how you feel.

You don’t have to wait until the holidays are over to start caring for yourself. You can begin with one small step this week.

Ask yourself:

• What would I like to feel better about by the end of the year?
• What’s one habit I can realistically start now?
• What support would make that easier?

You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need a place to begin.

I’m sharing more ideas for making the most of these final weeks in the next Embody Wellness newsletter.
