(Because...let's be honest, my business is personal)

It's been a year, man...

Y'all remember that motivational poster of the distressed kitten clinging to life and the tag line "Hang in there" under it...well...that's been ya girl this year.

So I ran into one of my influencers yesterday at the grocery store and after almost crying on the gravy jars, I figured it was time to be a real human and let y'all know what my life has been like this year and how/why it has effected The Shady Sun.

This year started off with the best intentions for life and business, but the universe had other plans for this chapter for me. It started with my Grandfather, who was basically my dad, declining in health and eventually passing on in early February. While this was devastating enough on its own, my biological family certainly did not make things an easier transition. Unfortunately, many of them are the yuppy version of Shamless characters. And while I still love them very much, and was happy to reconnct with some, the stress of it all then led to physical health issues for me.

It was at this point that I almost closed The Shady Sun. Completely.

But then I decided that focusing on a few of my personal tanning clients and taking time off from the brand for a bit would be best. The idea was to always come back with pre-sales for products, but honestly, every time I went to do this, my health issues would flare back up. On top of all this, my husband and I decided to buy a historial home from a man in the midst of rehabing it...our closing date was August 31st...we are still not in our home.

All of this is not to complain or whine, but merely because I feel I owe each and every one of you a very human explination for what has been going on and why things have been a bit different this year. And to also thank each of my tanning clients that had schedules that aligned with my crazy one. To thank each of you asking for self tanner and not taking it personal that it wasn't available...because it wasn't available to anyone lol. My goal with this holiday sale weekend is to offer y'all the main products you have been asking for and to celebrate the new year coming up where we all can celebrate and start fresh.

Thank you for putting up with me in 2023. Y'all saved me.
