Baseline Massage

One of the things I've learned from working with the body is that change doesn't always look the way we expect it to.
Before a movement pattern improves, there is often awareness. Before healing, there is often discomfort. Before growth, there is usually some degree of change.
Baseline is entering one of those seasons.
Over the next few weeks, you may notice things shifting around the office as we continue making improvements behind the scenes. It may not always look as polished as usual, but every change is part of building something stronger for the future.
Nothing about my commitment to you is changing. You'll still find the same professional care, the same attention to detail, and the same focus on creating a space where you can relax and feel supported.
But just like the body, sometimes things need to be adjusted before they can function at their best.
We're excited for what's ahead, and we're grateful to have you along for the journey.

Lately I've been thinking about self-care and how often we look for a waterfall when what we really need is a steady drip.
When we're overwhelmed, stressed, exhausted, or carrying more than we should, it's tempting to believe that one massage, one weekend away, one purchase, or one perfect solution will make everything better.
Sometimes those things help.
Sometimes they can help a lot!
But lasting change usually comes from the small things we do consistently.
A glass of water. A walk. A deep breath. A good night's sleep. A few quiet minutes without a screen. A massage. Time spent with people who help us feel grounded.
Self-care doesn't have to be expensive. It doesn't have to be elaborate. It doesn't even have to be massage.
It just has to be consistent.
A waterfall is impressive, but a steady drip can shape stone.
Take care of yourself today—and then again tomorrow.
Baseline Massage will be closed tomorrow, Saturday, June 20.
As Father's Day approaches, we've been reminded of something many dads have in common: sometimes what they want most isn't another tool or project—it's a little time to rest.
A chance to sit down. A little peace and quiet. A break from always being the one who takes care of everything else.
If you're still looking for a Father's Day gift, gift certificates are available in studio today from 9:00 AM–7:00 PM and online anytime at baselinemassage.com.

Supporting every body means paying attention to the details.
We've added a table extender to our equipment, providing approximately 10 additional inches of support when needed for taller clients.
For many people over 6 feet tall, it isn't uncommon for their feet to extend beyond the end of a standard massage table. This simple addition allows more of your body to be supported during your session, helping you relax more comfortably from head to toe.

This newsletter series was written by Rick Rosen, founder and co-director of the Body Therapy Institute, where I attended massage school. Rick is one of the nation's foremost massage educators and has spent decades studying, teaching, and advocating for the massage therapy profession.
His concept of "Overstim" puts words to something I've discussed with clients for years: we are constantly processing information.
Phones. Emails. Social media. Work. Family responsibilities. News. Notifications.
Even when we're sitting still, our brains are often working overtime.
One of the things I frequently tell clients is that part of the reason so many people feel tired, stressed, and overwhelmed is that they're on alert all the time. Not because of one major event, but because of the constant stream of information and demands competing for their attention every day.
I found it worth the read and thought some of you might as well.
Overstim 101 A cultural disease of the digital era

The hottest wellness tip you'll hear today:
💧 Drink some water.
It helps fight fatigue, supports muscle function, and keeps your body working the way it's supposed to.
This heat can sneak up on you. Take a minute, find some shade, and hydrate.
Your body will thank you later. ☀️
