Chartered April 29, 1978 as the Spencer Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, the name was changed to the Samuel Spencer Chapter in honor of the first President of Southern Railway. We are a Salisbury, NC based railfan group open to those that enjoys trains and their history.

First snow in quite a while in Salisbury, NC. December 3 catches southbound Piedmont and NS 52J a unit grain train by the ice house. The snow didn't last long, so you have to get it when you can.

Some members of the Spencer Chapter, NRHS took a trip on Amtrak to Alexandria, VA to catch some VRE commuter trains. Up on the Crescent at 6:15 AM on a Friday and returned at 1:15 AM on a Saturday.
