“How do you keep your hair looking so good”?! 👀

✨ Let’s go over some tips and tricks for maintaining your professional hair color!

🌊 Hot or warm water on freshly colored hair is a recipe for your hair to lose its vibrancy. You should always use cold water when washing and wait at least 48 hours after your color service to wash again 🫶🏼

🏊‍♀️ Most people know chlorinated pools can alter and strip your hair color, but did you know hot tubs do just the same or worse? 🤯

- Wetting your hair with tap water and spraying leave-in conditioner can help to maintain your hair health before swimming in a chlorinated pool. This won’t guarantee your hair won’t fade while swimming, but it drastically reduces the amount of fading.

🤩 Washing your hair twice on wash day can actually give you longevity between washes.

- The key to going longer between hair wash days is making sure your scalp is clean! When you only wash your hair one time, the shampoo doesn’t always reach your scalp. The first wash typically only clears the outer layer of dust, dirt and pollution. You may notice your shampoo is easier to move around and suds better on the second wash. 🧼 💆🏽‍♀️

🥵 Lower the heat on your styling tools! If you feel your hair just “doesn’t look right” without using high heat - you are rushing too much. Slow down. Slower passes with a flat iron, longer wait times while curling your hair and blow drying. I know, I know, who wants to wait?! Well, it’s either slow down or we can look like Cynthia from Rugrats. 😅🤣

^^ I’m partially kidding on the Rugrats comment. But for real - don’t complain when your hair looks frizzy and feels like straw if you aren’t willing to take care of your hair. Remember the saying our grandparents would say, “If you take care of something, it lasts”.

I’ve been licensed for 6 years but I’ve been doing hair way longer than that 😉. I got my start in high school where I began my hair journey through my school’s trade program. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to complete the program due to my mental health at the time. I went back to school shortly after I graduated high school and I’ve been immersed in the hair world ever since. I have a passion for hair!
