I love that she can be in mid cry and still answer my questions and laugh at funny parts of the movie lol it’s a sense of “I understand the process, but dayummm that s**t hurts” lol I get it 💝

Who the heck made me a kid braider? I do one nice hairstyle them BOOM! 🤣 Na but I love the kiddos. Only thing, if they are crying or about to cry, I limit the styles and comb out parts on some of the braids. I only do as much as the child is going to allow me to do. She always still gives me a hug after so I think we still cool lol 💝

I’ve always said what I do is deeper than braiding… but lately, I’ve really been thinking about just how deep it actually goes. 🥺 These hands have braided babies before their first birthday. These hands have braided clients who became family. I’ve laughed with them, watched them grow, heard their stories and shared pieces of mine. One of my regular clients sat in my chair just hours before his life was taken. Neither one of us knew that would be the last time.
And these same hands have braided the hair of someone I loved after they had already taken their last breath—one final act of love, care and service before we laid them to rest.
From the beginning of life… through the middle of it… and even at the end.
Somehow, God has allowed my gift to place me in moments that are so much bigger than hair.
When someone sits in my chair, I never really know what part of their story I’m being invited into. A first birthday. A first day of school. A graduation. A wedding. A new job. A regular Tuesday. Or a moment that we won’t realize was significant until much later.

And after all these years, I think that may be one of the greatest honors of what I do.

People may see braids.

I see memories.
I see relationships.
I see milestones.
I see people who trusted my hands during different chapters of their lives.

Some are still here.
Some are now memories.
But every one of them has become a small piece of my story too.

So no… for me, it was never “just hair.”

It has always been about the people underneath it. ❤️

And I’m forever grateful that my gift has allowed me to serve people through so many chapters of life—from their very first milestones… all the way to their final goodbye. 🙏🏽
