(warning it’s a little long)

I really want to Celebrate this one here.

This is my story…
I believed I could… I really believed I could do it ! If I didn’t make it, I knew I tried.
I was willing to sacrifice and prove to myself I could…. especially because I was only 26 and so many people had doubt, you could see it in their face when I told them that I was opening my own salon. “REALLY… Was in there face”
(I already had my Real estate license and was also working for Bradfield properties and putting my extra money away. Sold 18 houses my first year.)

What made me do it.

I always believed that if you have nothing nice to say.. don’t say anything.
My manager at the time would honestly talk bad about everyone, my coworker’s couldn’t do or get ahead in life without her saying something bad. For instance..if someone got a brand new car.. (your suppose to be happy for them) ..she would say… obviously they have to be selling drugs to be able to buy a car like that or If you bought shoes from Payless.. she would say… I would never buy shoes from Payless because they make your feet stink! Everyday…all the time. I had to get away from that, 6 yrs of that was enough.

I opened Hair Tech 2000 in Leon Valley, Tx.

I had to start paying for my phone # four months before I opened to keep my # ending in 2000 even tho it wouldn’t ring anywhere. :))

It wasn’t easy! FOR REAL! For months…really… I think it was three years 😞 I paid everyone except myself because their wasn’t enough money, again I’m new at this so I had no idea what I really was getting myself into. I worked about 70 hrs a week with no pay… I already had Anthony 6yrs old & Kevin 2yrs old.
Thankfully Anthony did what he had to do. Work side electrical jobs to keep food and our bills paid. (But no one knew that… we never complained, we just did what we had to do and provided for ourselves) finally I was able to start paying myself after paying off the start up cost.
In 1998 San Antonio experienced a once in a century storm, flooding the salon and forcing us to relocate. They say after a storm there’s a rainbow and there sure was! Our business was able to grow and experience many years of success.
In 2006, I had an opportunity to purchase my own space, design my salon from the ground up.. and relocate so we rename our salon, after ourselves. D’Anthony SalonSpa opened in Helotes, Texas in January 2007.
My vision of a second location was realized in June 2010 Opening D’Anthony SalonSpa on NW Loop 410 and them a third location in November 2015 at The Rim of La Cantera that one…. I fell in love with the location and it cost me a lot… (mistake but not a mistake) I made no money but made a lot of clients happy and had an amazing staff so we relocated our business to The Dominion cutting our bills in half and still living a dream. By this time I had taken Salon business classes so I knew exactly what I had done wrong.. up until then I can honestly say that the business owed me, I didn’t own a business.
Today I’m proud to say that I own my own business, the business no longer owns me and I’m finally able to take every another Saturday off and not worry about what’s going on.

I’ve been blessed with the success of my salons and I believe in giving back to our community.
Together with my team we have raised over $130,000.00 to benefit the San Antonio Battered Women and Children’s Shelter.
We have Amazing HairShows that really show our craft and the money that’s raised is donated to help better the lives of others.
We’ve also hosted special events, such as cut-a-thons to benefit the American Red Cross for both tsunami relief and Hope for Haiti and so many many more.
We love our client's feeling confident and beautiful giving them the look they want.
As the owner of three salons, I still work behind the chair at all three locations and give it my all, my goal is to empower, motivate, share knowledge and grow others to be the best they can be.
We could not accomplish all we have without the support and generosity of all those that believe in us and our endeavors.
