In between yin poses we are encouraged to find a comfortable resting position so we can then observe and feel the after effects of the pose within our body. This is known as the rebound.
Some poses have a very strong rebound feeling, in particular snail pose and sometimes saddle pose. After these strong poses we can feel very vulnerable and the urge is to tense the body to protect it.
Our life is a series of poses. Some of them are particularly strong like the snail ( difficult people, cutting remarks, rude emails, strange texts). After a difficult life pose the tendency is to recoil or brace. However if we learn to soften into the strong feelings within us and really feel and accept how vulnerable we feel in these situations instead of reacting to the pose, we cultivate a power within us. It is in this power that our freedom lies.
