The Wax Chapel Studio

One year. 🖤

I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this, but The Wax Chapel Studio is officially one year old. For those of you who always ask how I ended up opening my own studio, here’s the short version.

I spent five years working at a waxing franchise before someone invited me to help open a new studio. I was so excited because, for the first time, I felt like someone truly believed in me.

What I believed was the opportunity to help build a business as an equal partner wasn’t that at all. Instead, it became one of the hardest and most traumatic seasons of my life.

With me losing my job, my future and my income were quite literally in the hands of people I barely knew. During one of the most vulnerable times in my life, my boss took advantage of that vulnerability. What should have been a safe workplace became toxic, emotionally damaging, and deeply traumatic. Within just a few months, I knew I needed to get out, and after six months, I quit.

Walking away meant starting over after pouring everything I had into a dream I thought I was helping build. It felt shattering. Less than a handful of clients followed me, and I had no idea if opening my own studio was the right decision or if it would even be successful.

With the help of my husband, family, and friends, I opened The Wax Chapel Studio just one month later.

Looking back now, I don’t just see someone who started a business. I see a woman who was running for her life. At the time, I thought I had lost everything. Now I realize I was rebuilding everything 🥹🖤

To anyone who’s experienced manipulation, a toxic workplace, or someone abusing their position of power: you’re not alone. The worst thing that’s ever happened to you or your worst mistakes don’t have to define the rest of your life. Healing is possible, and so are new beginnings.
