I’ve recently seen several posts circulating on social media regarding local businesses not supporting the community when it comes to sponsorships.

This post isn’t intended to bash anyone, but rather to have an open conversation and put things into perspective from a small business owner’s point of view.

To be brutally honest, August and September are personally the slowest months for my business. Sometimes even having to reach into my personal funds to cover my overhead. I’ve been in business for going on 5 years, and these are the months when my partner and I brace for impact. Covering overhead costs, TOPPED with back-to-school season for our own children, can be rather challenging.

I’m a mother of 4. One of my children is attending college 12 hours away, which means starting a whole new journey, from furnishing her apartment to everything in between. As parents, we have to cover most of that. Gas, food, hotels…the list goes on. And that doesn’t include the days we have to take off work to complete all of those tasks.

Financially, our hands are FULL.

One of the key points I’ve noticed in these specific conversations is, “The community needs to support our child to help them succeed in their dreams.”

But who supports our children?

As business owners, we recognize who puts food into our children’s mouths. It’s not just the people who share a social media post (which is absolutely appreciated). It’s the clients who pay for our services WITHOUT hesitation.

It’s the money that allows us to put gas in our cars, clothe our children, pay our bills, keep a roof over our heads, and keep our businesses running.

I don’t mean to come off too strong, but if we’re going to have this conversation, let me put my two cents in.

I personally don’t do sponsorships.

Why?

Because I simply CAN’T afford it.

But I will tell you this: I help my community in any way I can. I may not post about it, but the ones who know, know.

I sponsor makeup services for those beautiful posters. I offer services at discounted rates. I raise money for those in need. I do what I can.

But I also choose to pour into the people who GENUINELY support my business…the people who help put food on my table and allow me to provide for my family.

Supporting goes both ways.

We all want to see our children succeed. We all want to see our community thrive. But small business owners are also parents, spouses, and members of this same community.

Real support starts by booking the service, purchasing the product, referring a friend, leaving a review, or simply continuing to show up.

Your inspiration serves as our starting point, but your features, personal style, dress, and overall bridal aesthetic will guide the final look.

Plan for approximately 2 hours, sometimes longer, as we take the time to assess your skin, refine your complexion, adjust eyeshadow, lashes, and lip tones, and make any necessary changes based on your preferences and how the makeup photographs.

There is no rushing the process. We take the time necessary to make the right refinements. This process allows us to identify what works best for your features, your vision, and your personal bridal style. Book your session today!
