Patricia joined the Black Dagger team in May 2023, bringing a bold creative edge and a strong focus on transformative color. She is known for big changes, high-impact looks, and pushing hair into something more expressive and intentional.

Her work lives in the world of creative color, vivid transformations, and alternative aesthetics. If you’re after emo or scene-inspired hair, she’s the one. From dramatic shifts to detailed, fashion-forward placements, she approaches every service with both technical precision and a clear artistic vision.

While creative color is her main lane, Patricia also works confidently with natural texture, including curls, helping clients enhance and work with what they already have.

Her haircutting supports that same energy, with a love for long layers, shags, mullets, and more experimental shapes that pair seamlessly with her color work.

Beyond her skill set, Patricia brings a warm, welcoming presence to the salon. She creates a space where clients feel comfortable going big, trying something new, and fully expressing themselves.

Outside the salon, she’s usually at a concert or live show, fully tapped into music and the energy that fuels her creativity.

Today .slays.hair begins six weeks of rest and recovery as she undergoes surgery.

If you’ve spent time at Black Dagger, you’ve felt the love Sarah has poured into the space. Beyond being an incredible hairstylist, she has spent years building a community where people feel safe, supported, and genuinely welcome. She shows up for her clients, her fellow stylists, and our community every single day, often in ways most people never see.

Black Dagger is more than a salon because of the care, labor, and heart Sarah has built into it.

As a small business owner, six weeks away from work also means six weeks without the income she relies on, while many of the expenses of running a business continue. This recovery period will bring real financial challenges, both personally and professionally.

Over the next six weeks, we’re asking our community to show up for her the same way she has shown up for so many others. If you’re able, we’ve linked Sarah’s in our bio. Donations, shares, kind words, and messages of support all make a difference.

Thank you for helping us support Sarah through her recovery. 💚

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

At Black Dagger, pride month doesn’t begin and end in June (or July for San Diego). We are proudly q***r-owned, q***r-led, and deeply rooted in our community. Whether we’re behind the chair, organizing community events, fundraising, educating, advocating, or creating safer spaces for people to be themselves, we believe showing up matters.

Pride is both a celebration and a call to action.

As attacks on LGBTQIA2S+ communities continue across the country, we’re reminded that Pride is more than a rainbow logo or a marketing campaign. It’s a commitment to showing up for one another, speaking up when it matters, and building a future where everyone can live safely and authentically.

Use your voice.
Support q***r and trans organizations and businesses.
Check in on your people.
Show up for your community.
Make noise.

To our LGBTQIA2S+ family, friends, clients, students, and community: we’re glad you’re here and we’ll continue showing up long after Pride Month is over.

We’ve got a brand new mascot, but there’s one problem… they don’t have a name yet!

Drop your best name suggestions in the comments below! Weird, spooky, punk, cute, chaotic, all ideas are welcome.

We’ll collect our favorite submissions and put them head-to-head in a community poll so YOU can help decide their official name.

⚡️ MORE INFO BELOW ⚡️

May 1st majority of Black Dagger will be participating in the General Strike.

Not everyone can afford to fully step away, and that’s real. Perfection isn’t the goal. Practice is. The more we show up in whatever ways we can, the closer we get to something bigger.

The majority of our team will be participating. The front desk will not be open and there will be no one available to answer calls or messages.

If you haven’t been contacted by your stylist or the salon, your appointment still stands.

How to participate:
• Don’t go to work if you can
• Don’t shop or spend money
• Step out of your normal routine

Instead:
• Rest
• Spend time with community
• Show up to a local action or gathering

We’re excited to welcome three new artists to the salon, each bringing their own style, energy, and perspective. As we expand, we’re also intentionally building out more gender affirming barber services alongside the creative, textured, and color work we’re known for. We’ll also be introducing apprentice services soon, creating more access to our work and supporting the next generation of talent. Come meet the crew.

⚡️HEADS UP⚡️
⚠️ Saturday 4/18: Coming from North County, the southbound 805 freeway will be closed from the I-5 split through Governor. Alternative routes are advised, so plan ahead.
🎸 Saturday 4/25: Adams Ave Unplugged runs from noon to midnight, with 90 performers playing across 26 stages throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. Public transit or rideshare is highly suggested, as parking will be even more limited that day.
🅿️ Coming soon (we think May): All of Adams Ave and the immediate side streets are actively being converted to metered parking. Neighborhood streets will remain free and untimed, and we will still have the 2 Black Dagger spots via the alley, first come first serve. We’ll post more info as this becomes a reality.
