Checkout that movement! I was geeking out over this cute textured bob. The color melt was 🤤 and the tones are perfect for her complexion. We highlight her about every 4 months and between highlight sessions we do a color melt to blend a few greys and keep her blonde nice and beigey. I precision cut her perimeter with scissors and add movement and texture with my razor. 😙👌🏻

Figured it was time for an updated pic and a little update about what I’ve been up to behind the scenes. It’s been a minute! Haha. I’m currently in a phase of filling my own bucket and prioritizing self care so that I can give my best to my loved ones and to my lovely clients. This looks like spending a lot of time with my favorite people, my amazing kiddos and wonderful boyfriend. It’s setting boundaries for work life vs time off. Focusing on moving my body, a healthy diet and having fun! I am feeling fantastic, focused, lighter energy, calm and peaceful. My life has shifted so much in the past few years and I’m grateful that it’s all been positive and productive. My goals this year include refocusing on my business to ensure I continue to provide the best service experience and beautiful hair while creating lasting connections and relationships. Thank you for your continued support and sharing your lives with me. It fills my cup to make people feel beautiful and happy. Much love 🤍

Some of this weeks work…

1 row of 22”s gave this beauty the volume boost she was craving. She had previously worn tape in extensions but she has to wear her hair pulled back for work and she struggled to hide the tabs in her fine hair. I carefully chose placement that would work with her lifestyle both at work and on her off days when she wants to show off that extra body. Custom color pulled the look together to make sure the row is undetectable worn straight, pulled into a low bun and or a high ponytail. The first few pics are the after and the last 2 are her before. 1 row makes such a difference!

Checkout this 11 week grow out. She’s got fairly fine hair but she’s able to wear 4 wefts on 1 row and her hair and scalp are perfectly healthy. Proper install and proper home care are equally important when wearing any type of extensions.
How long a client can go between reinstalls depends on a variety of factors.
*It’s important to consider how quickly your natural hair grows. If your hair grows fast then you will likely need to come in more frequently for the row to remain comfortable and easy to manage.
*what is the rate of shed you typically experience. Some clients hair life cycle is slower so they shed less hair in a given cycle. However some clients experience more rapid shed cycles for various reasons and this requires more frequent. Reinstalls to ensure that the row has enough natural hair in the foundation to support the weight of the extension hair.
* it gets harder to pull your hair up or back without the wefts bunching up so if you wear your hair up often you’ll want to keep up on your maintenance to avoid a bulking ponytail. This also could cause more to more tension/drag on the starting points.
*The further from the scalp the row sits the more mobility it has which means it’s more susceptible to snagging as you brush.
*Sometimes the ends might flip out a little and peek out through your natural hair making it harder to conceal.
If you have any questions about extension home care ask below. I’d love to help!!

One of my favorite low maintenance ways to blend out a few greys is to distract from them by adding sunkissed dimension and then color melt to dull their sparkle.
I like to start with a full head of dimension to create an all over sunkissed look. You only need to add dimension every 3-6 months and then maintain the vibe by doing express maintenance sessions every 6-8 weeks by doing a color melt and trim.
For color melts I use a Demi permanent root base that matches the natural color to soften the greys and then gloss the ends to maintain the highlights tone and shine. The Demi permanent base fades softly since it doesn’t permanently cover and the greys end up fading slowly to look like a soft “highlight”.
You don’t have do do a long/expensive color session at every appointment! Reach out if you have questions and want to know more about creating a color maintenance plan that works for you!

Did you know I was an educator for over a decade of my career?
I thought it might be fun to do something different & share a little history about my journey as a stylist of almost 24 years.
Let’s go way back (May 2001 to be exact). When I first started doing hair I was lucky enough to find a salon with an assistant training program where I learned precision cutting based on foundational Sassoon techniques, color placement & color theory from a team of talented educators & mentors. In that salon education was always a priority and it sparked in me a desire to be a master of my craft. Over the years I have attended countless classes & seminars. Some a couple of hours in the salon learning new trends & techniques & some multiple days in an academy or at a conference diving deep into cutting, color theory, extensions, business, presentation skills, salon management, personal growth etc.
For nearly a decade I was the Director of Education at a salon in Escondido where I developed the education program. I led the assistant training program & helped new stylists develop the skills to be successful as a stylist on the floor. I also taught advanced education & scheduled outside educators to come into the salon to keep the experienced stylists inspired. I went on to become a Master Color Expert & Regional Brand Educator for Wella Prpfessionals. I then became a Lead Educator for The Business of Balayage teaching classes across the nation.
I thought it would be fun to start sharing more about what makes me the stylist I am today. I put my passion for learning and mastering my craft into everything I do behind the chair. 24 years later and I’m still honing my skills, learning everyday and I’m passionate about helping my clients feel amazing.
I feel that part of what makes me a good extension artist are my color and cutting skills that make extensions blend perfectly.
BTW: if extensions aren’t for you that’s ok! Dimensional color and a good cut can create depth and movement in fine hair that helps achieve an illusion of more volume. Wanna know more about my hair story? Post questions in the comments and I’ll be happy to share.

The holidays are such a fun time of year in the studio! Amidst the hustle and bustle of finding the perfect gift and the sometimes hectic planning of hosting, traveling or the decision to stay home; I’ve always enjoyed hearing about clients plans for the holidays. I love sharing favorite recipes and swapping stories about that one crazy family member (we all have at least one!). One of the things I enjoy about being a hairstylist is the connection with my clients over the years. I hope this holiday season is more fun and less stress and I look forward to hearing all the details! 😉
