Pick one of these to put on your plate at mealtime today.
It seems like some of the hallmark cruciferous vegetables, notably broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower, have had a real renaissance this past decade. You can expect to find broccoli or Brussels sprouts on the list of side dishes at most restaurants now, and cauliflower is making its way onto steakhouse menus in the form of cauliflower steaks! Can't say I've tried it yet, but you'll have to let me know if you have, and what you thought.
Whichever cruciferous veggie you choose to eat, you have my full support.
The cruciferous vegetable family—broccoli, broccoli sprouts, Brussels sprouts, etc.—contains a superhero compound called sulforaphane that is currently taking research circles by storm. Sulforaphane is one of the most important offsets for elevated uric acid and confers a multitude of benefits for general health as well. How so? Well, it has to do with its relationship to a certain pathway in the body that, when activated, triggers the expression of more than 200 genes that serve a role in reducing inflammation, increasing the body’s production of antioxidants, and even enhancing our ability to detoxify when challenged by toxins. It’s called the Nrf2 pathway. And we talk about the Nrf2 pathway quite a bit here. But if it's new to you, know that it's a powerful pathway for triggering antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities.
If you want to learn (a lot) more, browse my website for more writings on the Nrf2 pathway, and start here: https://bit.ly/3ahX908

I love eggs!
I’m a big fan of eggs. I’ve even gone so far as to call them a “perfect food” in the past. And, thankfully, there’s a lot of data out there that supports this kind of view.
Eggs are a complex food that contains loads of components and nutrients that can change based on how they’re prepared, what the hen ate, and even where the hen was raised. They offer up a host of advantages to our metabolic health and they’re even an approved part of my , meaning that they don’t threaten your uric acid levels.
Check out what my friends at Levels Health have to say about this often misunderstood food!

I love honey!!!
Time for some accountability: I owe honey🍯 an apology.
In the past, I have written about honey and recommended that people avoid it at all costs. This position was based on the fact that honey has a very high sugar content. In fact, the actual fructose content in most batches of honey is around 40 percent, but this percentage can vary wildly from 21 to 43 percent due to how and where the honey is harvested and processed. When digging deeper into the literature about this sweet nectar from nature, I discovered that science supports the idea that it may not be so bad after all. But, as I write about in my new book, DROP ACID (www.dropacidbook.com) We may be able to make a small space for honey in our lives.
In fact, several human trials have indicated that honey consumption is associated with better insulin response and better blood glucose levels. Some researchers have gone so far as to characterize honey as a “novel anti-diabetic agent” in terms of its effects on both the liver and pancreas where it has been shown to improve blood sugar control, and the gastrointestinal tract where it positively modifies the gut microbiota.
So, have I changed my position on honey? Yes, and that’s a reflection of how scientific research continues to inform us. Research I share in my new book, DROP ACID ➡️ www.dropacidbook.com
And my promise to you is that I will continue to change my position(s) any time science starts to align behind findings that support lifestyle modifications associated with improved health outcomes, whether or not they're in harmony with my earlier recommendations. This is about getting you the information you need to protect your health, not my reputation.

With every book I've written, I've offered a supplement protocol that should accompany some of your larger lifestyle changes. is going to be no different. Alongside lifestyle changes you're going to make to lower your uric acid levels naturally, you'll also want to look to your supplement cabinet to provide additional support for your body's optimal functioning.
While many of these supplements contain nutrients that can be found in foods, sometimes it's just not possible to get a suggested daily intake from food alone. Plus, it never hurts to have a back-up plan (that's why we meal prep, right?). In the book we'll dive deeper into suggested dosages and the exact reasons why I'm recommending you consider each of these supplements. But for now, brush up on your knowledge of these five critical elements to start your transition to a life you'll LUV!
Before I go, let me give you some bonus info today to answer a question I'm sure many of you are asking: what is chlorella? You may not have heard of it before, but chlorella is a single-celled, freshwater medicinal algae. Chlorella is commonly used to help ameliorate features of metabolic syndrome as it’s known to help lower blood sugar and C-reactive protein, as well as lower triglycerides, boost insulin sensitivity, and improve liver enzymes. It's also a great detoxifier!
