A letter From Deborah & our staff about Haircrest Salon's upcoming closure:
To our valuable clients,
For over the last 20 years, Haircrest Salon has served and maintained an excellent reputation in the community. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing, talented stylists I’ve worked with. They have not only been co-workers, but they became my friends.
As the old saying goes, “All good things come to an end.” And unfortunately, that includes our Haircrest family.
On January 6th is Haircrest Salon’s last day.
We have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of our clients. We all agree, we will miss our conversations and laughs. But don’t worry, some of our stylists aren’t going too far – many of them will be relocating their services down the street at Moda Hair Design on 1454 University Avenue.
Thank you again for all of your support and friendship. We’ve had many good laughs here over the years and share the best of memories. As we all begin this new chapter in our lives, I ask of you one last thing:
Don’t forget to tell your stylist how much you appreciate them! Our stylists work so hard and put their heart and soul into every single service they provide. Your biggest compliment to them is the referral of your friends and family.
Remember, All good things come to an end so that better things can begin.
Happy Holidays ,
Deborah (Owner) and the entire staff at Haircrest Salon

To all our valued customers, it saddens me to inform you that after 20 years as your neighborhood salon, Haircrest will be closing in January. Deborah (our owner) will be posting more info here soon. But the good news is that most of our staff will be moving nearby to a new home. See the flyer below for info on how to contact them at Moda Hair Design starting next month. Thank you for your business, your loyalty through the years, and your understanding and patience in these challenging times. Happy Holidays and take care!

Deborah Calamia and the Haircrest Team
Dear customers and friends of Haircrest Salon,
We miss you and hope you are staying healthy, safe, and well. I’m writing to give you an update on Haircrest since earlier today, Governor Newsom announced that hair salons and barbershops will be allowed to open under Stage 3 of re-opening here in California.
We are working diligently to meet all guidelines required by the state* (see bottom) and San Diego County and our plan is to open Haircrest for business tomorrow (Wednesday, May 27th).
All clients will be seen by appointment only, so call your favorite stylist (see the list with phone numbers on the Haircrest website https://haircrest.com) to schedule an an appointment.
Since we have clients of all ages in varying health conditions, I want to assure you that we are taking every step possible to insure that you feel confident and safe when you do return. Of course our goal is to make you all look and feel beautiful, but we’ll be taking additional precautions to insure that Haircrest customers do not put their fellow customers (or any of us) at risk and the staff will be doing the same.
In addition to the new requirements from the state board that we will be strictly enforcing, I’m adding a couple of additional requirements: In order to keep the salon property sanitized and disinfected, we will have to space out our clients so that we can disinfect everything in the salon between sessions. You will be asked to text us when you arrive and stay in your car until we text back or come and get you. And you will be required to wear a mask during your service, the kind that go around your ears will be easiest for us to work around.
In addition, we will be taking your temperature before you enter the salon and we will have you sanitize your hands upon entering. If you have any symptoms, such as sore throat or cough, you will be asked to reschedule. Because we have to space out our clients and do so much more disinfecting, we will not be able to fit in as many clients per day, so please be patient with your appointments.
We will be adhering to these guidelines not only because of new state requirements but because we care about you and your family. Thank you in advance!
Finally, just a reminder that for now, service is by appointment only, so call your favorite stylist (see the list on the Haircrest website https://haircrest.com) to schedule an an appointment.
Thank you for your patience and understanding over the past few months. We look forward to seeing you soon!

*PS- for reference, the state of California’s guidelines for our re-opening are listed here:https://covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-hair-salons.pdf
To our Haircrest family: we regret to inform you that because of Thursday’s state mandate that all non-essential businesses shut down because of coronavirus, we have been forced to close until this public health crisis is under control. We understand this is in the best interest of both our customers and our stylists so that everyone can remain as safe and healthy as possible during this challenging time.
We are hopeful that this crisis will pass soon and we look for forward to seeing you all again then! Please take care of yourselves. And thank you for your support and business through the years. We’ve been Hillcrest’s neighborhood salon since 2002 and look forward to many more years helping you look your best!

Thinking about coloring your hair at home??? We wanted to let you all know that Haircrest Salon is still open for the time being (until otherwise directed by state/county/city mandate). Please give us a call at 619-297-4247 to check for hours and availability each day to see our stylists Michele, Daniel, Annie, Melissa, James, and Victoria.
And know that we are doing everything possible to maintain the healthiest environment for your safety to protect all of us from COVID-19. We use professional-grade alcohol sanitizers and and disinfectants and will maintain a distance of at least six feet between customers with less than 10 people total (including our stylists) in the salon at any time. And finally, if you are even slightly sick/not feeling well, we urge you to stay home. Our stylists are doing the same. Stay healthy and safe!
