Barbershop Conversationz: Freestyle Friday. Y’all I was sitting and thing what do trees have in common with human nature. Well this is what I found. Hope you find value in this. 1. Roots and Values: Just like a tree’s roots provide it with nourishment and stability, our values and beliefs ground us and give our lives meaning. They help us stay strong in the face of adversity.
2. Growth and Development: Trees grow and change with each passing season, just like we grow and evolve throughout our lives. We learn new things, gain experiences, and constantly adapt to our surroundings.
3. Branching Out: As trees grow, they branch out in different directions, exploring new spaces. Similarly, as we grow, we explore different paths, interests, and relationships, enriching our lives with diverse experiences.
4. Resilience: Trees withstand storms, droughts, and harsh winters, only to bloom again with the arrival of spring. This resilience mirrors our own ability to overcome challenges and hardships in life, emerging stronger and wiser.
5. Legacy: Mature trees drop seeds that give life to new trees, creating a legacy that outlives them. Similarly, our actions, achievements, and the way we touch the lives of others can create a lasting impact that continues even after we’re gone.
Just some thoughts and ideas. One analogy related to humanity. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy!

Barbershop Conversationz: Simple Saturdays:

Topic:- John Maxwell said that

surrounding yourself with the 5 most influential people in your life will shape who you become, which is a pretty powerful reminder of the impact of our relationships.

So, what does that mean for us?

When I was struggling financially and didn’t have access to successful mentors, I turned to books, podcasts, and videos to learn from them.

Before the internet, I had to get creative and visit the library, listen to CDs, and watch VHS tapes.

The point is, there’s always a way to access knowledge and inspiration.

The biggest challenge for me was letting go of negative relationships and seeking out new connections with motivated and successful people.

Since attending expensive seminars wasn’t an option, I relied on books, CDs, and videos to fuel my personal growth.

The takeaway is that by consistently feeding your mind with positivity and inspiration, you can transform your life - a lesson that’s been invaluable to me.

Just my 2 cents and experience!

Barbershop Conversationz: Freestyle Friday. Empowering thought.

Vices, huh? Yeah, we’ve all got ‘em - they’re like that one weird cousin at the family reunion.

But here’s the thing: it’s not the vice itself, it’s our inner strength and resilience that can overcome them.

So, to rise above, I’ve made some rules for myself - you know, like don’t eat the whole pizza by yourself (okay, maybe that’s just me).

Rule yourself first, and suddenly life doesn’t seem so hard.

Give yourself some solid rules to live by, and you’ll start to think that life’s challenges are actually opportunities for growth - in a powerful way.

And trust me, you’ll appreciate the results.

‘Rules...without them we live with the animals’ - (Winston. Manager of the Continental Hotel).

Food for thought, indeed. Just my 2 cents and experience.

Barbershop Conversationz: Simple Saturdays. Just a thought!

Embrace life’s challenges as opportunities to grow and transform.

A mentor once called me a Word Smith, and it’s a title that has inspired me to refine my craft and reach new heights.

Thanks for that vote of confidence!

By staying open to feedback and guidance, you’ll unlock your full potential and discover the power of resilience.

Don’t let valuable lessons pass you by.

Cultivating self-discipline and a willingness to learn will empower you to navigate life’s twists and turns with confidence and poise.

Remember, growth is a lifelong journey, and every experience is a chance to rise above and shine.

Just my 2 cents and experience. Enjoy!

Barbershop Conversationz: Freestyle Friday. This is a better way to say what I said.

Embracing reality empowers us to navigate life’s complexities effectively. Perception can be a misleading guide, but by focusing on character and actions, we can foster a more authentic understanding of the world around us.

Hollywood’s masterful storytelling can create illusions that blur the lines between perception and reality.

However, when reality takes center stage, we’re reminded that true character shines through in our actions.

By prioritizing substance over appearance, we can cultivate more meaningful connections and a deeper understanding of those around us.

Ultimately, it’s the unsung heroes, often unassuming and unpretentious, who can have the most profound impact on our lives.

By looking beyond surface-level appearances, we can unlock a world of possibility and potential for positive change.

Barbershop Conversationz: YOUR 2025 REMINDER. As a barber, I have established guiding principles to elevate my craft and inspire others.

Embracing these principles can profoundly impact your journey.

The Ten Barber Commandments are designed to inspire growth, professionalism, and success.

But let’s be real, if I had not follow these, I’d be cutting my career short.

The Ten Barber Commandments

1. Be Consistent: Don’t be that flaky barber who’s always canceling appointments. Set hours, set lunch, and reap the rewards.

2. Market Yourself: You’re a brand, baby. Present yourself professionally through impeccable attire, grooming, and demeanor. Deliver exceptional customer service to yield long-term dividends.

3. Mind Your Tone and Words: Your attitude is like a haircut - it can make or break you. Monitor your thoughts, as they shape your words and tone. Engage in uplifting conversations and surround yourself with positivity.

4. Uphold a Zero-Tolerance Policy: No booze, no drugs, no exceptions. Prioritize your well-being and the success of your business.

5. Respect Boundaries: Don’t get too comfy with your clients. Maintain professional relationships and prioritize integrity.

6. Honor Your Commitments: Pay booth rent on time, and don’t be a complainer. Manage your finances wisely and explore alternatives if needed.

7. Prioritize Your Health: Take care of your body and mind. Engage in regular exercise, eat nutritious food, and surround yourself with positivity.

8. Focus on Your Journey: Don’t compare yourself to others. Instead, focus on your growth and development. Celebrate your achievements and continuously strive for excellence.

9. Persevere with Passion: Continuously improve your craft, appreciate your clients, and let go of negativity. As you sow positivity, you will reap the rewards.

10. Embody the Previous Nine Commandments: Recognize that growth is a lifelong journey. Stay curious, keep learning, and inspire others to do the same. With dedication and perseverance, you will unlock your full potential. Just sharing my 2 cents and experience!

Barbershop Conversationz: Reflection is an ongoing thing for me. What a wonderful experience. Being kind vs nice: I’ve learned being kind lets me communicate truthfully without being hurtful, and I’d rather face the truth than be misled by falsehoods. I could go on but I’ll stop here. Let it marinate. Enjoy!

Barbershop Conversationz: Simple Saturdays: topic: LEADERSHIP

Hey everyone,

So, I wanted to share a bit about my journey into leadership – it’s been quite the adventure! For the longest time, I actually *avoided* leadership. Seriously, the phrase “Kerry, you’re in charge” used to send shivers down my spine – it all started when I was seven! I guess I saw it as a huge chore, like super-powered babysitting. But people kept seeing something in me that I didn’t see in myself.

My growth has been all about learning and evolving. First, I had to accept that, yup, I’m a leader! That was a big step. Then, I realized how important emotional intelligence is. Keeping my cool and focusing on what matters really makes a difference in creating a positive and productive environment for everyone.

Next, I learned the power of truly *listening* – not just waiting for my turn to talk, but really trying to understand what others are saying. This started with my family and friends, and it’s transformed how I lead. Asking good questions before jumping to solutions is key.

I’m a big believer in lifelong learning. I’m always reading and writing, and trying out new things. It’s not just about passively absorbing information; it’s about actively using it.

Facing challenges head-on has been crucial. It’s amazing how those tough times strengthen you and make your vision even clearer.

And guess what? Failure is a fantastic teacher! You learn so much from mistakes. It’s all about learning, practicing, and getting better along the way. It’s through those experiences that I’ve become more grounded and honest with myself.

Finally, my faith is a huge part of my leadership. It guides me, helps me learn from great leaders, and shows me how to best serve others. It’s not just about clever strategies; it’s about having a strong sense of purpose.

Hope this gives you a little peek into my leadership journey! Enjoy!
