Do you know what products to use to refresh your hair in the second day?

Refresh hair in second day depends on what products you used on wash day (first day) Did you use products that form a strong cast? Like a strong hold gel. Refresh day (2nd day hair) will be very easy to create.

Water will help to add those hydrogen bonds back to the hair and those curls from the hair can form again. If you put a strong gel on the first day (wash day), you probably don’t need to put a strong gel again in the second day (refresh day).

The styling products can be change base on what you want your hair to look like. What vision do you want to create? More volume, no volume etc...

You don’t want to detangle your hair in the second day, if you do this could indicate that you are over due for a haircut.
Let go of the perfect curl mindset! I little of frizz is part of being a curly girl.

What questions do you have on your refresh day? Let me know ⬇️

Before & after
Taking care of your curly hair is not a one size fits all hair routine.
One way to embrace your curl pattern is by feeling your hair texture & test different hair products to see what works best for your hair goals and lifestyle

Porosity

Have you heard the “Porosity” word in the internet world?

Let talk about it....so much to talk about. In general “porosity is the ability of the hair to absorb and retain (moisture) water” In cosmetology school porosity was the key to understand hair in general.
Let me tell you it took me several weeks to deep understand the whole concept of hair porosity. But I do not want to bore you with all these concepts and medical Terminology.

Since there are several grades of porosity, and depending in which grade you are in, it will determined what chemical service will be recommended for you. The goal here is to keep the integrity of the hair, and not destroyed it.

But I am going to make it sample for you, and instead of saying low porosity let say your hair is “resistant” which is not so bad.
Resistant hair is better than none resistant hair. None resistant or high porosity means your hair is probably not in good conditions. Hair damage, or high porosity hair allows moisture to be absorbed into the hair shaft easily, but at the same time the hair is not able to retain moisture for too long leaving the hair looking dry and frizzy.
If your hair tangles too much when it is wet you have hight porosity.

Before I learn about what your hair can or can’t absorb first let’s clarify your hair of all the product build up, and that can help determined if your hair is resistant or not.
I would love to hear what questions you have about resistant (porosity) hair? Type them below ⬇️

Humidity fighting tips

Your hair routine plays a huge roll on how you hair will behave when there is a lot of moisture in the air a.k.a humidity. Humidity is the concentration of water vapour present in the air.

Here are some tips to help you fight humidity

* After conditioning the hair apply a base layer of fighting frizz product, before applying your styling products. This will act as a barrier to protect your hair against humidity

* Product application is also very important. Use a long teeth brush to brush in your products from root to ends. If you feels you lost most of the water in the hair as you were brushing the products, it is very important to add more water to the hair

* Water, water and more water is very important in your hair when applying your products in. Water in our hair routine will help with curl definition. If your hair does not get enough water when you apply your products hair will reach out to the environment to get it.

Spending a little bit more time in your wash day routine so humidity from the environment won’t affect your hair.

Damage hair

The difference between healthy and damage hair

~Healthy hair
Has a healthy cuticle that feels smooth, reflects light, retains moisture and is tightly aligned.

~Damage hair
The cuticle is damage or destroyed. Excessive tangling especially when the hair is wet. You can see split ends, dullness and fly away hair.
Lack of body and hair doesn’t hold curls.

Growing out heat or chemical damage hair takes time and serious commitment. Part of the commitment is trusting your hairstylist professional advise to get regular haircuts to help with the damage growing process.

Are you ready to set heathy hair goals? What questions do you have about damage hair? Please let me know ⬇️

3 most common kinds of hair damage

1. Heat Damage
Is over use of blow dryers, flat irons, hot combs, and curly irons. Heat can physically change hair’s natural elasticity

2. Chemical Damage
Incorrect use of chemical procedures which include color service, chemical straightening like keratin, lye relaxer, and Brazilian hair straightening.

3. Mechanical Damage
Combing and brushing. Extensions, braids, and tight pony tails which this causes broken hair, and receding of the hairline

Damage is happening when you can physically see and feel your hair is drier and harder to manage. Your hair is constantly tangling. Your hair color fades very fast especially around mid-shaft to ends.

We all experience some type of hair damage but the severity will depend on the things you over exposed your hair to.

What do products have to do with frizz?

The answer is a lot. What products can you add in your hair routine? What products can you take away from your hair routine?
Lack of shine, bounce and movement of your curls partially is due to product choices.

I have 4 recommendations that can help you to reduce frizz, when it comes to change of weather from winter cold air, rain, and humidity to summer time.

1. section your hair before applying in your products
2. Adding more water smaller sections and take your time when applying in your products
3. Use a brush to brush in your products when your hair is completely wet from roots to ends
4. Do a lot of scrunching

In the winter we might use heavy cream products, creamier conditioners. Spring to summer we might use lighter conditioners or you could use a gel like products for better curl hold.
