I like to use brushes for application when I want to focus on a detail area, or when I want to use a sheer finish and give a wash over the skin. If the skin is really dry, I only use damp brushes when applying. Generally speaking, sponges can give more coverage, while brushes can be more sheer

The main difference is that brushes provide more coverage, while sponges give the skin a sheer and natural look. Brushes are also less likely to absorb foundation, so you use less product overall. Another key difference is that makeup sponges should never be used dry.

Stick with the essential oils the spa uses in treatments. On tipping: don't assume if gratuity is included that the therapist gets it- they don't always. Ask the therapist discretely if you can- many places will take an included gratuity off your bill if you request it. Then give the tip directly to the therapist.

If you are planning on getting wet, a swimsuit is obviously necessary. Keep in mind that it can get pretty hot in saunas and thermal baths, so it's a good idea to avoid swimsuits with metal clasps that may overheat and burn you.

Deciding to wear your hair up or down during a massage is up to you. The massage therapist can work around your hair with whatever option you choose. I find a lot of my clients with long hair wear it up while they are laying face down. After I turn them over, I request them to let it loose.

Quality brushes should feel soft and gentle against your skin. If a brush feels rough and scratchy, then it is of low quality and should not be used on your skin. If it's also a brush with bristles that fall out all the time, it is not of good quality.

Natural brushes are the best choice for powder-based products, and they're ideal for blending to a smooth, natural finish. Synthetic brushes have bristles constructed with man-made hairs of nylon, polyester or other synthetic materials.
