Just got off a zoom call with my therapist which has been helping me a lot. There is a lot of stuff going on right now ... yesterday it was pitch black outside all day and it was really frightening and then the other thing is that I'm not taking any skin care clients. I want everyone safe from the Corona virus.

My brother and I are hanging in there and it's just a really frightening time for everyone cause they're so many changes in the world.
The numbers keep increasing so this is a safety decision and that's really hard... to lose part of that our relating and seeing each other every month for so many years. Being an active Esthetician for over 25 years! I miss and love you all.
I'm not closing permanently.. just temporary to keep everyone safe.
Probably be closed till end of the year.

According to this article posted today July 16, 2020, San Mateo county appears to be headed for the state watch list. Many counties around us have closed businesses that were granted to open.

San Francisco, San Mateo counties appear to be headed for state watch list

San Francisco and San Mateo counties appear to be destined for the dreaded California state watch list, where counties become subject to state-mandated business closures if they appear on the list for three consecutive days.

There are six different indicators that can land a county on the watch list: keep scrolling down

1. A seven-day average of fewer than 150 tests conducted per 100,000 residents

2. More than 100 cases per 100,000 residents over 14 days

3. More than 25 cases per 100,000 residents over 14 days AND a seven-day average of test positivity over 8%

4. A 10% increase in the three-day-average for hospitalizations

5. Having less than 20% of ICU beds available

6. Having less than 25% of ventilators available

Most counties go on the list due to case and hospitalization increases (2 and 4). Analysis first conducted by the Mercury News and confirmed by SFGATE shows that both San Francisco and San Mateo counties have recorded over 100 cases per 100,000 residents over the past 14 days, which should land both counties on the watch list sometime in the near future.

SFGATE analysis found that San Francisco has seen 115.9 cases per 100,000 residents over the most recent 14 days of reporting and San Mateo has seen 124.6 cases per 100,000 residents. Unless daily case increases dramatically decline, it will likely be difficult for the two counties to get off of the watch list in under three days.

oint, as Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Santa Clara, Solano and Sonoma have all been on the watch list for well over the three days required to trigger business closures. Counties on the watch list for more than three days are required to shut down indoor operations for hair salons, nail salons, other personal care services, gyms, malls, places of worship, and offices for non-critical sectors.

For San Francisco, the new closures would not impact the county much as officials have continued to delay the reopening of most indoor businesses. For San Mateo, however, the state-mandated closures would likely upend the local economy once again as indoor businesses have been open with modifications for almost a month.

Selenia's Skin Boutique will be opening on July 20th..hopefully. The numbers are climbing higher every day. They may shelter in place again.

Hope you have stayed safe and are well.
Selenia's Skin Boutique has been boarded up for a couple of days due to the protest that took place two days ago. All went peaceful, but many businesses are keeping boards up this weekend and beyond. There's talk on 25 th about a potential threat this weekend.
We also had two hired guards in front and two guards in back. These security people were hired by the pharmacy to ensure property safety during the protest.
My brother Elvin, myself and our 2 dogs are just fine.
I have received gloves and face shields to wear when we open. I have hand sanitizer.

-Each one of you will be required to wear a mask upon entering the boutique.
- I am still waiting for notification if I will need to take your temperature at the door.

The memorial day weekend festivities, along with the protest where there has been zero social distancing have caused Covid19 positive results to go up in San Mateo.
Until the numbers go down, many businesses will still be on lockdown.
I will be calling to say hello, touch base and r/s your appointments.
We are going through an intense time and many have anxiety and other issues. Who can blame them?
We can make a difference by taking care of ourselves first.
-Wash your hands for 20 seconds.
-Wear your mask outdoors.
-Wear gloves when shopping or doing errands around town.
We can and we will make it through this.
