So what's the deal with slugging? Is it good? Is it bad?​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Slugging is like applying a "sealant"-- it's a way to keep skincare locked in so that as much as possible has a chance to seep into your skin instead of evaporating—the sealant being the petroleum-based product such as Aquaphor.

It's generally good for those with extremely dry or chapped skin. It is generally NOT recommended for those who have oily or acneic skin types for it can trigger a breakout. A thin layer of non-comedogenic oil as the final step might be a better option for these skin types. (Consults your esthetician or dermatologist if considering slugging.)

❗️IMPORTANT: AVOID slugging with ACIDS or RETINOIDS on your skin. I generally do not recommend it as it increases the chances of over-exfoliation and irritation. Only apply nourishing serums and moisturizers to get the best results when slugging.

TIPS for slugging:
1.) Apply a thin layer of a clean form petroleum-based product without any additives or fragrances.
2.) Apply it to thoroughly CLEAN skin to avoid trapping in any acne-causing bacteria, dirt, or dead skin build-up.
3.) Always wash it off the morning after.
