The world looks at my husband and probably sees someone “hard.”
A biker. Tattoos from his arms down to his hands. Long hair. A beard. 6’2” and built like a s**t brick house. 😂
And then there’s the version of him that Parker knows.
At bedtime tonight, Parker kept asking for his dad, but Ryan wasn’t home yet. I promised him, “Daddy will come see you when he gets home.”
Later, Parker woke up.
He didn’t cry out “Dada.” He just stood up in his bed and looked over toward ours, almost like he knew his dad was finally home and was checking to see if he was there.
Ryan was downstairs doing the dishes and letting me rest because I caught whatever lovely little germ Parker brought home.
“I’ll go up. He’ll go back down quicker for me.”
Which, granted, is true.
But I also knew he just missed his boy.
A few minutes later, I looked at the monitor and saw this.
This giant man folded into our little boy’s bed, holding him until he felt safe enough to fall back asleep.
Neither of them knew I was watching.
And God, those are the moments that get me.
Because underneath everything the world sees when it looks at Ryan is the softest, gentlest human with our boy.
And every time I catch one of these little moments, the ones nobody is supposed to see, I melt a little more.
That same quiet confirmation:
Yep.
I married the right man.
And more importantly, I picked the right dad for our boy. 🤍
Sometimes the softest place to land looks a whole lot different from what you’d expect.

It might only be 7:45 am but my living room gets to be his playground
It might only be 7:45 am but this is our second episode of Bear in the Big Blue house
It might only be 7:45 am but he’s already giggling, he’s already helped me feed the cats, make my coffee and his favorite; throw trash away.
Sunday at 7:45 is my favorite time of the day, sipping coffee, watching him explore, stop and watch bear for a minute, chase the kitty just to give him a hug, climb up to me on the couch, snuggle into my lap for 1 whole minute before abandoning me for his toys.
Happy Sunday 🩷

Well… I missed Mental Load Monday yesterday. 🤦🏼♀️
And at first, I was really discouraged about it.
I had every intention of posting. Then Monday did what Monday does work, home, dinner, bedtime, the never-ending list of things I needed to remember… and suddenly the day was over.
And honestly? The irony isn’t lost on me. 😂
A series I created to talk about the mental load of motherhood became another thing on my mental load.
So I’m changing it.
✨ Mental Load Monday is becoming MONTHLY. ✨
Once a month, we’re going to open all those tabs in our brains together the “oh s**t, I forgot…” tabs, the appointments, groceries, bills, school stuff, things the house needs, things the kids need, and all the invisible things we somehow keep track of every single day.
I want Mental Load Monday to be something meaningful that I want to sit down and create — not another weekly box I feel like I failed to check.
So I didn’t miss Mental Load Monday.
I think I just figured out what Mental Load Monday actually needs to be. 🤍
See you next month.
With love, always, Meghan
Come on in, grab a cup of whatever tastes right and relax, its Mental Load Monday 🤍
Maybe it's the parasite scare...
Maybe it's back-to-school season...
Or maybe it's just motherhood.
Lately my brain has been one giant list of "Oh s**ts."
"Oh s**t... did I wash the berries?"
"Oh s**t... we're almost out of milk."
"Oh s**t... I forgot to pack that."
"Oh s**t... did I already do that... or just think about doing it?"
"Oh s**t... do we have the money for that?"
"Oh s**t... when's that bill due?"
"Oh s**t... I need to make that appointment."
If your brain feels like it has 100 tabs open too, you're not alone.
So tonight, I'm getting it out of my head and onto paper because my brain deserves better than being everyone else's to-do list. 🤍
Happy mental load Monday!
Today’s the day where we put things down that are too heavy, and we don’t feel guilty about it.
Stay tuned for this afternoon!

I mean… who can’t relate??
As I read this nap trapped on the couch laundry is staring at me, but right now I’m blind to it 🤣

There was flour on the counters, toys everywhere, tiny footprints across the floor, and more noise than our house had heard in a long time… and I wouldn’t have changed a single second of it. 🤍
Last night we hosted our first little Pixar Cars movie night with Parker and his cousins. We made homemade pizzas, sipped berry basil limeade mocktails (for the moms 🍓🌿), watched Cars, and let the kids just be kids.
It was loud.
It was chaotic.
It was messy.
It was absolutely perfect.
The sound of little giggles echoed through our home, and I don’t think my heart has ever felt so full.
As I looked around the room, I couldn’t help but think back to high school. Ange and I used to dream about these days raising our babies together, sharing milestones, and making memories like this.
Life turned out differently than we imagined in some ways, but this part? It ended up being even better.
One of my favorite things about our friendship is that we don’t parent exactly the same, and that’s okay. We each do what feels right for our own families, and there’s never judgment only support, encouragement, and love. It’s a reminder that motherhood isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it doesn’t have to be.
Here’s to pizza nights, sticky little hands, mocktails, belly laughs, and the village we spent years dreaming about. ❤️
My heart was so, so full.
