the industry LOVES to roast fineline artists - but the reality is, I am seeing a lot of artist pivot and are starting to market their thinner tattoos as ‘fineline’ too. Why? Because it’s a buzzword and honestly it’s a smart marketing move 📓

2 really cool pieces on Gabs this weekend:
The alabaster jar + a swallow

🕊️ What was the alabaster jar?

An alabaster jar was a small stone container used to hold expensive perfumes or ointments. The perfume inside could be extremely valuable.

A woman came to Jesus carrying one and broke the jar and poured the perfume over Him.

The important part isn’t really the jar itself—it’s what she was willing to give up.

💧 What did it symbolize?

1. Everything she had
The perfume was costly. She wasn’t giving Jesus what was convenient or leftover. She gave something precious.

2. Complete surrender
Breaking the jar meant there was no easy way to put the perfume back. It represented a kind of “I’m giving this completely to You.”

3. Love without worrying about other people’s opinions
People criticized her for what they considered wasteful. Jesus defended her and said she had done something beautiful.

4. Worship that costs something
Her worship wasn’t merely words. It cost her something personally.

5. A life poured out
The fragrance filling the room is often understood as a picture of how genuine love and sacrifice can spread beyond the person offering it.

And Jesus said something incredibly powerful about her:

“She has done what she could.”

The coolest part of tattooing are all the stories people carry behind them and their significance to them! 🤍
