At times, this will feel harder than you expect it should.
There will be moments when you feel like you are disappointing people, when you don’t live up to expectations. Whether those expectations are societal, familial, professional, or within your relationships.
But only you know the pureness + the intentions of your own heart. And only your highest self knows the direction of your unique and individual journey in this lifetime.
For those who have experienced a great deal of abuse throughout their lives…it is easier to grin and bear it. Providing for others can be easier than providing for the self.
But providing for the self becomes easier through exposure therapy. Every loving act of self kindness, every moment of your time which is kept sacred. Every boundary set, every truth spoken.

My favorite take. I consider myself “spiritual” with no denomination, but if I had to choose a practice that resonated with me the most deeply, it would be Buddhism.
Since childhood I had big questions about life, death, the afterlife, (or a lack thereof.) Aliens, space, witchcraft, the passage of time, you name it. People that think like this are often labeled difficult in structured environments - schools, 9-5 workplace, and the system in general. Because we aren’t wired for it. And typically we are thrown on medications by a young age so we will sit still and cooperate. Not questioning anything we are taught.
For me, I always found it odd that more of us weren’t wondering what we were doing here. And at the end of the day, I don’t think we really know 100%. Life is a series of experiences, and it’s up to the individual to make sense of that.
Our authentic self is shaped through our losses, challenges, traumas. And on the flip side of that - our endurance, resilience, and our ability to remain loving, hopeful, creative, and connected… despite it all.
The idea that attachment is at the root of all suffering also makes a lot of sense to me. Clinging to people, places, and things can be incredibly draining and destructive. By “needing” we are forgetting that all of this tangible, physical stuff is temporary.
Feed the soul over the ego as much as possible, it’s your greatest guide. 🪷
