Status Update: Massage Therapy is different behind the scenes these days.
At this point this to me a total disgrace to the massage profession. If I took my certification back in 2005 why do I need to take the Mblex which is for new massage therapist. I have been practicing for years. This is crazy. Even the CE Broker is malfunctioning even after paying $35. It's a bunch of AI bots that is running the background. They collect all this money. There's no marketing for massage therapist. What are we really getting out of the deal. I feel like a criminal at this point. I have been working for almost April to get my massage license with the state of Georgia and I'm getting the run around because of these laws. Who is really looking out for the massage therapist. I have to get a work permit from the police department in Sandy Springs Georgia and have letters of reference from 3 people in the city in which everything is supposed to be confidential. I still have to go before a board to be approved to work in the city and charged $300 for an establishment license each year. This is by far the most disappointing I have ever been in a profession. Then other states like New York and Tennessee require you to go back to school. I'm like I have my Bachelor of Science in Business Management. and a cosmetology license. What more school do I need. For people to sit back and push paper and massage therapists are out here doing the work being treated like we have done something wrong. If human trafficking and prostitution is an issue around the profession. Why is it that I have went to school and trained just to feel like I did a crime. Federation of State Massage and AMTA are a shame and disgrace before my eyes right now. $300 for a one time exam. clearly NCTMB is not functioning at this point either. Looks like everyone is smiling but okay.

I send my prayers to all massage therapy boards in the world.. I’m not a s*x worker and not a trafficker. I have my massage certification since 2005 there’s nothing else for me to learn with CEUs. I travel so for me to transfer each state is crazy. I should be grandfathered in but your boards never took the initiative to inform me of what was going on. You wiped all my ceu’s from all records and expect me to take a mblex when I have a Bachelors degree from the University of South Florida. You want me to go back to school for credit hours when I have credits for cosmetology diploma. You want my finger prints and I’m in the FBeye database and have taken multiple fingerprints. What are you looking for??? I have to pay for an establishment license when I’m doing business. $300 a year. $50 for a work permit with the poffice. You want me to report my earnings while I’m doing the work. I have to pay taxes. You want to know my aliases… you disqualify me for taking $700 lymphatic drainage class that ceu expires in July. You say I don’t have proper transcripts. When you gave me an incorrect documentation for the $200 I spent to apply. I call and know one knows what’s going on with my application. You say your system is up to date and will give me results and it’s not working. It’s been a month. Now you want me to take another 21 hour live course when nothing is available and pay more fees. Massage schools are closing down 2 in my immediate area. No one is coming to Massage Conventions at the rate it was when I initially started. What are yall doing? People want to nickle and dime me on sessions. I am racially profiled on every front. The stereotypes people have of Black people is real. 🤷🏾‍♀️ but to show up with a smile on my face. Okay
