Spike proteins of coronaviruses activate mast cells for degranulation via stimulating Src/PI3K/AKT/Ca2+ intracellular signaling cascade 04/27/2026

For a long time, I’ve believed COVID was a major turning point for many people dealing with histamine intolerance, mast cell activation symptoms, chronic inflammation, and nervous system dysregulation. Now the science is starting to catch up.

My own symptoms began about a year after a mild case of COVID. I recovered quickly and did not think much of it at the time.

Then I injured my knee, had to take NSAIDs, and for me, that was one of the biggest triggers.

From there, everything changed.

I went from being a very healthy, active, fit person to feeling incredibly sick and, at times, basically bedridden.

Gut issues. Histamine reactions. Heat intolerance. Skin flares. Nervous system dysregulation. MCAS-like symptoms. Things I had never dealt with before.

I have said for a long time that COVID, immune stress, gut disruption, and NSAIDs can create the perfect storm for mast cell activation.

For me, NSAIDs were a major trigger. For someone else, it may be mold exposure, hormone shifts, chronic stress, infections, gut dysfunction, or something else entirely. Usually, it is a combination of things, not just one.

In speaking with many people in mast cell support groups, our root causes and triggers may look different, but one common thread shows up again and again—many people either had COVID, were vaccinated for COVID, or both before these symptoms became significantly worse.

New studies are now showing that coronavirus spike proteins can directly activate mast cells and trigger histamine release.

That matters.

Because for many people, these symptoms did not come out of nowhere.

I do not believe MCAS is usually the true root cause. I believe it is often the body’s warning system letting us know something deeper needs attention.

The real work is identifying what is driving the inflammation and overload.

That usually means looking at gut health, nervous system regulation, inflammation, hormone balance, bile flow, detox pathways, and overall immune stress.

Healing is rarely about one thing. It is usually about reducing the total load and helping the body regulate again.

Worked on this lovely client in her 40s today. She has beautiful bone structure and a naturally youthful look, but like so many women, she’s starting to become more mindful of the aging process and wants to support her skin in a natural way.

She came in dealing with a lot of stored tension through the jaw, occipital area, scalenes, and SCM, along with habitual jaw clenching. This kind of patterning doesn’t just affect how the face feels, it can also influence how the face ages over time.

Today we performed my SuperLift Facial with Buccal Release, focusing specifically on those areas of tension. This work helps release deep holding patterns, improve circulation, support lymphatic flow, and bring more balance back to the face from the inside out.

We finished with Red Light Therapy to support the treatment on a deeper level. Red light helps stimulate ATP production in the cells, which is essentially energy for repair and regeneration. It also supports the lymphatic system and helps calm inflammation, making it the perfect follow-up to this kind of hands-on work.

This is slow, intentional, results-driven care. No forcing. No overdoing. Just working with the body so it can do what it’s designed to do.

If you’re feeling tension in your face or noticing changes in your skin and want a more natural approach, this treatment is a great place to start.

Book your SuperLift Facial with Buccal Release through the link in bio or send me a message and I’ll help you get scheduled. 💛

This client is in her 70s. These results were created using only my hands and her body’s natural ability to regenerate. 🤲🏻✨

Her goal was to support her skin naturally and see what was possible through consistent, hands-on structural treatment.

These images compare immediately after her first SuperLift + Buccal Sculpting Facial and immediately after her sixth. The visible changes developed cumulatively between treatments two and five as chronic muscular tension released, lymphatic flow improved, and tissue began functioning more efficiently.

You can see improved cheek support, better jawline definition, softer lower-face compression, and healthier tone and clarity.

This protocol uses only precise anatomical manual techniques.

No injections.
No fillers.
No chemicals.

By releasing tension patterns and restoring healthier tissue mobility, we stimulate the body’s own regenerative processes, including collagen activity, circulation, and cellular turnover.

I also took a photo the day after her sixth treatment — once she had her hair done and resumed her normal routine. This is not post-facial swelling. This is how her tissue is holding.

She told me she slept nine hours that night.

When the nervous system shifts out of chronic guarding, the body responds.

Results are cumulative and sustainable with consistency. An intensive phase is recommended initially, followed by monthly maintenance. Red Light Therapy can further support cellular repair and energy production.

Most importantly, she is pleased with her results, excited about the continued cumulative response, and committed to maintaining her treatments.

If you are curious whether this approach may be supportive for you, message me directly.

This isn’t about glow.
This is about physiology.

Red light and near infrared light work below the surface of the skin where inflammation, sluggish lymph flow, and mitochondrial stress live.

This is why I use it for clients struggling with:

• Sensitive or reactive skin
• Rosacea, acne, and inflammatory flares
• Histamine intolerance and MCAS-prone skin
• Slow healing or compromised barrier function
• Puffiness and lymphatic stagnation
• Chronic stress and nervous system overload

This light stimulates mitochondrial energy production (ATP), improves circulation, supports lymphatic drainage, and helps calm inflammatory signaling in the skin and body.

I especially use this immediately after my SuperLift Facial + Buccal Release to calm the tissue, support lymphatic movement, and enhance healing after deep facial work.

It’s one of the most powerful, non-invasive tools I have to help the skin heal from the inside out.

And yes, I use it on myself regularly for the exact same reasons.

Because this is not cosmetic.
This is cellular support.

The SuperLift Facial: Natural Lifting, Lymphatic Support, Buccal Release, and a Nervous System Reset Without Injectables 01/30/2026

I shared a new blog today explaining the philosophy behind the SuperLift Facial and why this treatment is so different from a traditional facial.

This work focuses on facial fascia, lymphatic drainage, buccal release, scalp tension, and nervous system regulation to support natural lifting and sculpting without injections, Botox, fillers, devices, or harsh chemicals.

If you’ve ever wondered how facial tension, jaw patterns, or lymphatic stagnation affect how your face looks and feels over time, this will give you a deeper understanding of the approach behind this treatment.

Constipation is one of the most common things I see in people living alongside MCAS, histamine intolerance, autoimmune issues, and chronic inflammation.

And it’s rarely about “needing more fibre.”

When mast cells are activated and the nervous system is on high alert, digestion is not the priority. Bile flow slows. Lymph slows. Hydration shifts at a cellular level. Motility slows. The body holds on because it doesn’t feel safe enough to let go.

That does not mean everyone with constipation has MCAS.

But for those who do live alongside it, constipation is a very common and very overlooked piece of the puzzle.

This article explains beautifully why constipation is a whole-body communication, not a bowel failure.

If you or someone you work with struggles with this, this is worth the read. ✨💩

🌿 Constipation: When Your Body Is Holding On — Not Failing You

Constipation is one of the most misunderstood signals in the body.

It’s often reduced to:
“Drink more water.”
“Eat more fibre.”
“Take something to make you go.”

But constipation is not just a bowel issue.
It is a whole-body communication.

👉 Your body is not broken.
👉 Your body is protective.

🚦 What Constipation Is REALLY Telling Us

Constipation happens when movement slows — not just in the gut, but across multiple systems:
• Nervous system
• Liver & bile flow
• Lymphatic drainage
• Hormones
• Hydration at a cellular level

When the body feels overwhelmed, inflamed, depleted, or unsafe, it holds on.

🧠 The Nervous System: “I Don’t Feel Safe Yet”

Digestion happens in rest & digest, not in fight or flight.

Chronic stress, trauma, grief, burnout, anxiety, or long-term illness can:
• Reduce vagus nerve tone
• Tighten abdominal and pelvic fascia
• Slow peristalsis (the wave-like movement of the gut)

📌 A tense nervous system = a slow bowel.

🟢 The Liver & Bile: The Missing Laxative

Bile is essential for:
• Fat digestion
• Stool softness
• Natural bowel movement

If the liver is sluggish or bile flow is reduced (very common during detox, hormonal imbalance, gallbladder removal, or chronic inflammation):
• Stools become dry
• Waste becomes sticky
• Elimination slows

📌 No bile flow = no smooth flow.

💧 Dehydration (Even When You’re Drinking Water)

Many people drink water — but remain cellularly dehydrated.

Why?
• Low minerals
• Electrolyte imbalance
• Stress hormones pulling water away from digestion

Without enough fluid reaching the colon:
• Stool hardens
• The bowel struggles to move it out

📌 Hydration = water plus minerals.

🚦 Lymphatic Congestion: Waste Can’t Leave

The intestines are wrapped in lymph vessels.

If lymph flow is slow:
• Waste products linger
• Inflammation increases
• The bowel feels heavy and congested

📌 No lymph flow = no waste flow.

This is why constipation often improves with:
• Manual lymphatic drainage
• Gentle movement
• Breathing
• Fascia release

🌙 Hormones Matter (A Lot)

Hormones directly affect gut motility.
• Progesterone slows bowel movement
• Elevated cortisol diverts energy away from digestion

This is why constipation is common:
• Before menstruation
• During perimenopause
• During prolonged stress
• During intense detox or fasting

🌾 Why “Just Add Fibre” Can Backfire

Fibre is not the enemy — timing is everything.

If:
• Motility is slow
• Hydration is low
• Bile is insufficient

Adding more fibre can make constipation worse, not better.

📌 Fibre without flow becomes cement.

🚨 Why Constipation Should Never Be Ignored

Chronic constipation can contribute to:
• Reabsorption of toxins
• Hormone recirculation (especially estrogen)
• Increased inflammation
• Fatigue and brain fog
• Skin issues
• Lymphatic stagnation

Elimination is not optional.
It is part of daily detox.

🌿 Supporting the Body Gently (Not Forcing It)

Instead of forcing the bowel, we support the system.

✔️ Calm the Nervous System
• Belly breathing
• Warmth on the abdomen
• Gentle abdominal massage
• Creating a sense of safety

✔️ Support Liver & Bile
• Bitter foods (lemon, rocket, dandelion)
• Healthy fats
• Gentle liver protocols
• Consistent lymphatic therapy

✔️ Support Lymph Flow
• Dry brushing
• Walking
• Rebounding (if appropriate)
• Manual lymphatic drainage

✔️ Hydrate Properly
• Add trace minerals
• Use warm fluids
• Avoid ice-cold drinks when constipated

✔️ Tools When Needed (Short-Term)
• Magnesium (gentle forms)
• Castor oil packs
• Herbal support temporarily, not daily reliance

📌 We support movement — we don’t bully the bowel.

💛 The Most Important Truth

Constipation is not your body failing you.

It’s your body saying:

“I’m overwhelmed.”
“I don’t feel safe yet.”
“I need support — not pressure.”

And when you listen…
the body responds beautifully.
