How do you know if permanent color is a good choice for you?⁣
🧡 You want to get rid of grays⁣
🧡 You want lighter locks⁣
🧡 You’re looking for intense, long-lasting color⁣
Unlike the other types of color we’ve talked about this far, permanent color has the full ability to open that cuticle up and deposit color molecules deep in the cortex.⁣
Because the color molecules are making it all the way into the cortex it will give your grays a full transformation vs just glossing over them.⁣
On virgin hair (not previously colored) permanent color is actually able to lighten the hair up to two shades without the need for additional steps, like lightener.⁣
At the end of the day permanent color is a great option for a variety of looks but it is important to remember that because those color molecules are reaching the cortex and transforming your color at the deepest level, it is in it for the long haul, providing longer-lasting color that doesn’t fade like the others I’ve mentioned in my previous posts.⁣

What is demi-permanent color and why you’ll love it!🎨

What: typically ammonia free. No-lift, deposit-only.
So that means our color molecules can fit between the overlapping cells (cuticle) but not pe*****te the center (cortex) of the hair.
Creating a coating of color that gradually washes away.

Common services where a demi is used:
🌼"Toner” over highlights
🌼Clear Gloss/Toner
(names are used interchangeably but mean the same thing!)
🌼Lowlights
🌼Shadow root
🌼Refresh on the ends

Why: It’s less commitment, and has no obvious roots!
Demi-permanent color is translucent and since it gradually washes away, there’s no harsh line showing where the color has been deposited as it grows out. If you like to go longer between services, switch your color up often, or just need to add some shine a demi is gonna be our go to.

Before I get into my color series, there are some technical terms and information on the structure of your hair that I wanna share before we start!
Each hair on your head is comprised of 3 parts but we’re going to focus on 2, the cortex and cuticle layer.
✨The cortex is the command center, determining the hair strands color, texture and thickness.⁣
✨The cuticle layer is the outermost, composed of overlapping cells- like fish scales or roof tiles. These scales open and close when “activated” allowing chemicals and ingredients to pass through to the cortex.⁣
✨Ammonia is the chemical that opens the cuticle and allows the color to pe*****te the cortex of the hair. ⁣
