El Catrin Barbershop

Barberia El Catrin (Gentlemen’s Barbershop) was incepted in 2010 under a dream to create a haven for those in search of a service that has existed far beyond our forefathers that has since lost much of its richness. Barbering was once not only a practiced art but was a bond between an artist and his community, and our ultimate goal is to replenish this relationship. El Catrin was founded and operates by two young entrepreneurs that are native to Santa Ana as they were born and, most importantly, raised there. This puts the owners in a unique position to give back to their community and serve its needs in a manner that involves a true love of the neighborhood. Located on 400 West 4th St B in historic downtown Santa Ana, it is situated at the heart where the district is currently undergoing a reinvention geared at generating a more beautiful experience for the citizens of the city and an effort to bring in much needed commerce from surrounding areas and we are just a facet of the influx. We took the time to completely renovate a space where we kept key characteristics of the old building and installed state-of-the-art equipment along with antique pieces that creates an ambience that serves perfectly to bring the past to life in a very modern way. Extra seating is plentiful and surrounded by worldly as well as local art and historic barber memorabilia where one can enjoy a modern sound system. Located behind the impressive Bistro 400, we are surrounded by local culture and shops including Calacas and Calacas Café (opening soon). Our focus is to not be your typical barber shop while providing an affordable and efficient service that has a quality that is hard to compare with like businesses. We do not discriminate based on s*x, age or any other factor that many chose to do in this business. All are welcome to come enjoy our establishment: men, women, children and with much respect to our elders. Servicing our clients are fully-accredited barbers that have an innovative eye for modern styles as well as a talent for re-creating styles from our past in an effort to please the retro-minded. We are honored to have in our arsenal Carlos “Exit” Landeros that once hailed from the barber shops of San Diego (Two Roses in Barrio Logan). He has agreed to join our effort in bringing forth his traditionalist methods (hot towel treatment, straight razor shaves, etc.) that has earned him his reputation as being a premier barber of exceptional quality. He is one amongst many of our talents. Grooming and styling are our talents, but tradition and respect for our community are our cornerstones.
