Motherhood, it’s a song, it’s a dance, it’s peeing your pants. It’s a belly full of smiles and a head full of worry all the while eating in a hurry. It’s my heart broken open to outer space and back, it’s a deepening of discomfort. Locking eyes with strangers holding their little ones, the unspoken language of parenting, it’s not so black and white. The constant showing up even when you don’t feel like it, it’s gritty, messy, but oh so full of joy and wonder. It’s reliving innocence, it’s carrying the weight of the world and giving all your body and blood has. It’s true love. It’s honestly the best version of myself I’ve known yet.

Perched upon Austin’s truck, the before version of myself, when sleep was attainable, when the sun kissed my big growing belly, when independence came freely. Wearing my grandmas sexy night gown from the 70’’s I think about her love for baking, how she passed this skill down to me when I was a little one. As our baby sleeps upon my chest I dream of a time when I too watch him crack the eggs into the batter as my grandma watched me, carrying on the ritual of sweetness. 📸 .photography

Motherhood has been calling my name, whispers from the universe asking for my attention to deepen my awareness, to open my heart wider. Pregnancy taught me the simplicity of slowing down. Now, motherhood taught me how to go with the flow and ride the wave of life. Birth taught me to believe in myself and that I am stronger than I think I am. After birth I have a new found feeling of devotion and unconditional love that I have never felt before. This whole journey is an awakening and our little spirit left breadcrumbs. There were signs written in the sky that he was coming. First sardines fell from the sky at our footsteps, then comets painted the sky on a drive home and finally a perfectly ripe and plump peach fell to my feet all while was by my side. And so it is, Perseus entered our lives 8/26/2025. Everyday we learn something new about you and we look forward to so many more adventures with you little guy. 📸 .kai Art by
