We have 3 BIG shows till the end of the year, and sadly Lyla’s Luscious Lathers will be going out of business. It was a wonderful learning experience, but with prices of raw materials going higher and higher, we just aren’t making much of a profit, and making all these items is s lot of work for the both of us. If you’d like to order anything to ship out for the holidays I’d do it now!

***IMPORTANT UPDATE***
Due to the forecast of wet weather on Saturday, the 2023 Old Town Orcutt Chalk Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We expect the weather to be warm and sunny on October 7 -- perfect conditions for chalk art!!

The Chalk Festival will be located on Broadway and Union Avenue in Old Town Orcutt, and the main attraction as always will be the chalk art created by both featured artists and children. For $10, families can purchase a box of street chalk and a marked square for their child or children to beautify. Other highlights include entertainment on the stage, children’s activities, vendors, and food trucks.

This year’s Chalk Festival has a theme of “Community,” as it is the product of collaboration by four Orcutt-based nonprofit organizations: the Orcutt Children’s Arts Foundation (OCAF), Orcutt Area Seniors in Service (OASIS), the Old Orcutt Merchants Association (OOMA), and the Old Town Orcutt Revitalization Association (OTORA).

Each organization is responsible for a specific component of the Chalk Festival. OCAF is overseeing featured artists, sponsored art, and children’s art. OASIS is responsible for entertainment and has scheduled a lineup of performers for the event stage. OOMA has rounded up vendors and food trucks. OTORA is tackling logistics associated with closing streets for the Festival. Proceeds from the event will benefit OCAF, which provides financial support for arts education in the Orcutt Union School District.
