So you’re terrified of needles? Good news: the needles are not what you think.
If you hate needles, you do not have to suddenly become brave. You’re allowed to be nervous, ask every question, and still decide whether acupuncture is right for you.
Acupuncture needles are sterile, single-use, and much thinner than blood-draw or vaccine needles. Roughly 10+ acupuncture needles can fit inside one standard hypodermic needle.
Most people feel little or nothing. Some feel a quick pinch, dull ache, tingling, warmth, or heaviness. Those sensations usually settle quickly.
If anything feels uncomfortable, say so. We adjust it, remove it, or stop. You can ask for fewer needles at any time. You are always in control.
There is no magic number of needles. Your plan is based on your symptoms, health history, and overall pattern, not a one-size-fits-all checklist. Needles typically stay in for 20–30 minutes while you rest. A first visit is usually consultation plus treatment.
There is usually no bleeding. Occasionally, there may be a tiny spot of blood or a small bruise. Serious adverse events are rare.
We screen before treatment for relevant conditions, including pregnancy, blood thinners, bleeding disorders, lymphedema, pacemakers when electrical stimulation is considered, medications, and supplements so we can create a safe, complementary plan. If you have fainted with needles before, tell us, and come fed and hydrated.
If time or cost is part of the hesitation, ask before booking. You deserve clear answers.
After 35+ years of clinical experience, we still think informed consent matters more than pretending you’re fearless. Visit midwestacu.com.

A very casual picture for a very NOT casual announcement. 😂
I BOUGHT THE CLINIC.
One of the biggest leaps I’ve ever taken, the biggest bet I’ve ever made on myself, and the beginning of something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time.
It’s officially mine. 🥹💙
And I have to give some love to Jen, who spent the last 30 years building this practice into what it is today. There’s something incredibly special about having someone trust you with what they’ve spent decades creating, and I don’t take that lightly.
Thankfully, she’s not going anywhere just yet. You’ll still see her around the clinic doing what she loves — just without having to own the thing anymore. 😂
Here’s to honoring what she built and seeing just how far we can take it from here.
New era. Let’s go. 💙

Thermography is an adjunctive wellness imaging service and does not replace medically recommended breast cancer screening or diagnostic testing.
I love a supplement as much as the next wellness girlie, but at some point we have to address the basics 😂
Sleep. Eat. P**p. Move your body. Get outside.
THEN we can talk about your 37-bottle supplement cabinet.
Respectfully, your Chinese medicine doctor. 🌿

Chinese medicine is a lot bigger than acupuncture.
Acupuncture, herbs, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion—they’re tools. The real medicine is knowing how to read the patterns your body is showing and deciding which tools make sense for you.
That’s why two people can walk in with the exact same complaint and leave with completely different treatments.
We’re not just asking “What symptom do you have?”
We’re asking “Why is your body presenting this way?”
And no—Chinese medicine doesn’t cure everything. No form of medicine does. But understanding your individual pattern can completely change the way you think about your health.

Wildfire smoke doesn’t just irritate your lungs—it increases oxidative stress throughout your body.
🌿 Rhodiola rosea is an adaptogenic herb that has been studied for its ability to:
✔️ Support the body’s stress response
✔️ Help combat oxidative stress
✔️ Support mitochondrial energy production
✔️ Reduce mental fatigue
It’s not a replacement for protecting yourself from smoke. The biggest priorities are reducing exposure, using an air purifier, wearing a well-fitting N95 if you need to be outdoors, and staying hydrated.
Think of rhodiola as one piece of your resilience toolbox—not a magic fix.
Have you noticed you feel exhausted, foggy, or anxious when the air quality is poor?

Seriously though 😑🫠
Fridays are my only day I take to kinda chill and do house things. What’s this looks like is doing one task for 5 minutes then rotating to a different one basically for 6 hrs straight and somehow things get done??? I don’t even know. Who can relate? 😂😭
