I've been doing Rachel's hair for years, and she's always a blonde but we've mixed it up with various shades, all dimensional and all with a soft growout to keep it low-maintenance for her

Today it was soft, golden blonde waves! In the second pic, from a few years back, it was more of a pearly blonde with a silky blowout

3 styling mistakes that are killing your look, and maybe your hair 🫣

Confession time: are you making these mistakes? Is it keeping you from getting the style you want, or maybe even damaging your hair?

I got you 🤗 Let's break it down:

♨️ Thermal protection is a non-negotiable for keeping hair healthy when heat styling! My fave? Heat Bounce! Why? Because it protects hair inside and out, and you can use it on wet hair before drying AND/OR on dry hair before ironing. That's right, every touch-up curl, every flat-iron finish, every quick and dirty styling trick you don't realize is damaging your hair...it is, but it doesn't have to!

📏 📐 Iron size and angle- if your hair doesn't come out like you hoped, you may actually be telling it to do the wrong thing! Use a smaller iron for curls, bigger for waves. Wrap sections the same way for flow (like I did here), in different directions for a more natural or messy look. And did you know it matters how you hold the iron? Vertical for length, horizontal for volume. Can you do both? Yep! LMK if you want me to show you how

✨ But wait! Don't sabotage it now! Support a flowy style by brushing gently. Support a natural or messy look by shaking with open fingers. And don't forget finishing products! Depending on your hair type, you may need an oil, styling cream, hairspray, or pomade. This is what gives you your final polish, sheen, or textute

After nearly 10 years, Phenix Salon in Marina Del Rey has closed its doors rather abruptly. First and foremost, I want to apologize if you heard this news from other sources before hearing it from me.

I also want to assure you that I have been working diligently to ensure a seamless transition. From securing a temporary place to work so I could maintain as many appointments as possible, to finding a fantastic salon that I’m thrilled to call my new “home,” and arranging for short-notice moves, I’ve been focused on making this as smooth as possible for you!

And now, I’m very excited to announce that I will be moving to a beautiful, modern suite concept salon in Santa Monica:

That's right across the street from Élephante (if you're a foodie) and the Laemmle Monica Film Center (if you're artsy). And just a few minutes' walk from great shopping, historic buildings, many restaurants, and a beautiful view out to the ocean!
