LOS ANGELES! Paloma, formerly Maggy, is a victim of this broken system.💔First abandoned on the street by her family, and then brought to one of the highest kill shelters, Paloma was quickly put on the euth list. This is not uncommon, but what is shocking is just how quickly they wanted to kill her. This morning, we were told by a witness, a woman came to the shelter to save Paloma’s life and adopt her, but the shelter was closed due to a staff meeting. (This staff meeting didn’t prevent them from taking the time to put Paloma into the euth room.) When we realized her time was literally up and no one else was coming for her, we jumped into action.We know that Paloma was given Ketamine and completely sedated in preparation for euthanasia. We were told that when shelter staff found out we were coming for Paloma, they were upset that they had to reverse the sedation and wake her up. Can you imagine being angry that you had to do a bit more work to save the life of a living creature? We can’t.While coming out of sedation Paloma suffered a seizure.💔Paloma is safe with our vet now and being monitored. We will keep the updates coming!
