Happy Black History Month!

This lovely person is Delilah Beasley, a pioneer for Massage and Bodywork in the US. Besides being a Massage Therapist, she was a writer ("Negro Trailblazers in California", 1919), the first black woman to work as a columnist at the Oakland Tribune, journalist, activist, studied in hydrotherapy, nursing and medical gymnastics which is the precursor of Physical Therapy today. Delilah Beasley is an inspiration to me as she truly did pave her own way in the world of Massage Therapy while addressing the segregation of minorities in the Health and Wellness industry.

Tip for July:
Freeze a water bottle (I like the ones with ridges best), and roll your feet on it while sitting. Best while wearing thin socks if you're sensitive to cold. This is a great way to keep cool for the summer, while taking the time for some much needed self-care. It's not the same as a full-body massage from me, but this'll do in a pinch. Stay cool and happy rolling!
