Prepping right = smoother skin + better results! 💖

🧽 Exfoliate 24-48 hours before your wax - but ideally 2-3 times a week - to remove dead skin and allow for the easiest removal possible (just don't exfoliate day of!)

📏 1/4 inch is about the length of a grain of rice. Too short = wax won’t grip! (no shaving in between waxes)

🚫🧴 On the day of your appointment, come with clean, dry skin so the wax can properly adhere.

☕ Caffeine can make your skin more sensitive—try to skip it the morning of.

👖 Loose clothing helps to avoid irritation afterward—leave the leggings/jeans at home if possible!

💊 Ibuprofen is optional, but if you’re sensitive it can help ease discomfort and reduce inflammation.

I’m a San Diego native 🌴, and I’ve been a waxer and licensed esthetician for over 6 years! For the past 5 years, I’ve been running my own waxing business, and I’ve loved every second of it!

Trying to figure out which bikini wax to book can sometimes be confusing, but now it doesn’t have to be!

💓 Bikini Line : A bikini line wax removes the hair along the sides (about a 4 finger width), as well as about an inch off the top. This prevents any hairs from peeking out when you wear a bikini

💓 Bikini Full : A bikini full includes the removal of the bikini line and as much or as little hair from the front as you would like.This wax does not include a butt strip.

💓 Brazilian : A Brazilian wax includes the removal of the bikini line, as much or as little hair from the front as you would like removed, as well as the butt strip. This is the most popular option.

💓Retinol & acne medications: Retinol and topical acne medications will almost always cause skin lifting. Stop using these 1-2 weeks prior to your wax. Acctuane must be stopped AT LEAST 6 months prior to waxing (sometimes it even needs longer).

💓Sun exposure: Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, or sunburn before waxing. Sunburnt skin is sensitive and more likely to be damaged or irritated.

💓Exfoliation: Stop exfoliating (cleansers, scrubs, etc.) 3-5 days prior to your wax. Too much exfoliation can thin the skin and cause it to lift. You can start exfoliating again 2-3 days after your wax.

💓AHA's/BHA's: These chemical exfoliants are similar to retinols and can thin the skin. Stop using them 7 days prior to waxing.

💓Facials: Facials typically include products and exfoliation you want to avoid prior to waxing. Avoid getting them a week or less away from your wax and book them a week after instead.

💓Skin conditions: Waxing over an acne, eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea flare up can cause further damage and irritation to the skin. It is best to wait until the skin has cleared up and/or you have consulted with your doctor to wax.

Let’s break down some waxing do’s and don’ts! 💓

1. Taking an ibuprofen before a wax will help take the edge off! Drinking water before also helps hydrate your skin and prevent hair breakage! On the other hand, caffeine and alcohol can actually make you more sensitive during a wax! 💦

2. Exfoliating a 2-3 times a week with products specifically meant for post hair removal will help prevent ingrown hairs and ensure all the hair lifts from the root during your next wax!

3. Growing out your hair to 1/4 inch will ensure you get the cleanest wax results!

4. Make sure to wax a few days before any special occasions/vacations to avoid any skin sensitivity, and to prevent potential sun exposure for at least 24 hours. ☀️
