In 2017, my husband and I opened Root 43 Salon on Highway 43. It was a huge accomplishment, and the Lord aligned everything perfectly so I could have my dream place and fulfill my dream of having my own salon. Shortly after renovating and getting comfortable in my salon, we had a tragic electrical fire that no one could have seen coming. We were then able to move into the salon on Shelton Beach Road and have enjoyed it for the last several years. I was able to become a part of Summit and have many apprentices through the years, fulfilling what I felt was my calling. I absolutely love the hair industry and the people I got to minister to and talk to every day. I gave my all to my customers and worked hard to build my salon over the years. I loved doing hair and making people feel beautiful. Every foil placed, every haircut brought me joy and fulfilled my passion. A few months before giving birth to Shirah, my heart was really turning towards spending time at home with her when she would be born in July, so I had already started to change the system I had with Summit and let some of my beloved employees go. I didn’t know I would have Shirah at 22 weeks, but the Lord knew, and He worked out every single aspect of it. Anna and Taylor stepped up to the plate and moved all of my clients and helped accommodate everyone when I suddenly had to quit working after 12 years, almost 13. As our journey progressed, I found that Shirah would be a full-time complex care child. My heart slowly turned more towards being a stay-at-home mom with her. I set up my house and prepared for that, but not wanting to make any big decisions about the salon or my future in the hair industry. After Shirah passed away a little over a month ago, I feel like the Lord has closed the door for me at Root 43 Salon. My heart is no longer in it, and I don’t feel like it is my calling anymore. I’m going to take some time to heal, to grieve, and to rebuild my family structure at home in my house, which has been neglected for the past eight months. As of January 2026, Anna kearly will be taking over Root 43 Salon. She is the most deserving person. She has completely taken over and run the salon while I’ve been gone, from cleaning to paying the bills. She has handled it all, and she was my first apprentice. She is going to be the best owner of Root 43 Salon. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the salon and for Anna. Whenever she first became my apprentice, I asked her what she saw herself doing, and she told me owning a salon in New York City. She’s always had a drive and compassion that you don’t find very often in this generation. I don’t know what this healing process will look like. Maybe one day I will do hair again, but for now, I’m going to focus on learning how to function and live and become who God created me to be. Mallory was able to deliver her precious baby girl, Shirah Lynn, at 22 weeks. They are taking extra special care of everyone to make sure this process is as successful as possible. So far she has been a little fighter! Please still be in prayer for Mallory, Josh, their kids and baby Shirah.

‼️Attention all clients of Mallory Gleason‼️

As most of you may know, Mallory went into pre-term labor last Friday and has been at USA since. She has been getting the most high quality care from doctors and nurses there as they attempt to keep baby Shirah in as long as possible.

In the mean time, we are working diligently to divide up clients between stylists here at Root 43 Salon. Thank you so much to those who have been patient and understanding. This process is very complex and takes time, so again thank you for checking on Mallory and working with us to get you taken care of!
