And then there are the rare people whose kindness continues changing lives long after they’re gone.

Kimberly Galvin Janelle was one of those people.

As we celebrate 10 years of Tru Cutz Barbershop and 10 years of the Go Back Tru Back-to-School Event, we couldn’t tell our story without honoring someone who helped make it possible from the very beginning.

When this event first started, it wasn’t thousands of children.

It wasn’t hundreds of volunteers.

It wasn’t a community wide celebration.

It was simply a dream to help local kids start school with confidence.

Kimberly believed in that dream.

She looked at us and smiled and said,

“You worry about the haircuts… I’ll take care of the backpacks and school supplies.”

And she did.

Year after year…

She showed up.

She gave her time.

She gave her heart.

She organized backpacks.

She gathered school supplies.

She encouraged others to help.

She reminded us that even the smallest act of kindness can change a child’s life forever.

Because of people like Kimberly, what began as helping just a handful of children has grown into something we never imagined.

Together over the past 10 years, we’ve been blessed to provide:

👟 Hundreds of pairs of sneakers

📱 Free cell phones for local families

🍔 Food, snacks, and countless smiles

But behind every backpack…

Behind every smiling child…

There is a story.

And Kimberly is one of the biggest chapters in ours.

Sadly, Kimberly is no longer with us.

While our hearts still feel that loss, her spirit continues to live on in every child we help.

Every backpack we hand out carries a little piece of her generosity.

Every child who walks into school feeling proud carries a little piece of her love.

Every Go Back Tru event will forever carry her legacy.

She never asked for recognition.

She never wanted the spotlight.

She simply wanted to help children.

And because of that, thousands of young people have started the school year with confidence, knowing their community cared about them.

Kimberly, your kindness became the foundation of something much bigger than any of us could have imagined.

You helped build a tradition that will continue serving families for generations to come.

You will never be forgotten.

You will always be part of the Tru Cutz family.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, we also celebrate you.

We’re also taking a moment to remember our dear friend Kimberly Galvin Janelle. Though she’s no longer with us, her love, kindness, and dedication continue to live on through every backpack, every haircut, and every child we help. Her legacy will forever be part of Go Back Tru.

Ten years ago, we opened the doors to Tru Cutz Barbershop with one simple dream.

To build more than a barbershop.

We wanted to build a place where people felt like family, where kids could grow up, where friendships were made, and where our community always knew they had a place they could call home.

In 2016, we also started something that seemed small at the time.

Our very first Go Back Tru Back-to-School Event.

It wasn’t a huge event.

It wasn’t backed by major sponsors.

It wasn’t covered by the news.

It was simply a group of people who cared enough to knock on doors and help 25 local kids start school with confidence.

That was enough.

Because when a community believes in each other…

Amazing things happen.

Today, because of your support, your loyalty, your trust, and your love…

That same event has grown into something we never could have imagined.

Over the past 10 years, together we have been able to provide:

✂️ 2,000+ FREE haircuts

🎒 2,000+ backpacks filled with school supplies

👟 200+ pairs of sneakers

📱 FREE cell phones for local families

❤️ Thousands of smiles.

Thousands of fresh starts.

Thousands of kids walking into school with confidence.

None of this happened because of one person.

It happened because an entire community decided to believe in giving back.

To every client who trusted us with your haircut…

To every parent who has supported us…

To every child who has sat in one of our chairs…

To every barber who donated countless hours of their own time…

To every volunteer…

To every business that believed in this mission…

You are the reason we’ve been blessed to serve this community for an entire decade.

As if celebrating 10 years in business wasn’t enough…

This year is another milestone for our family.

We’ve officially moved into our beautiful new home at:

What started as a small neighborhood barbershop has grown into a new chapter on Broadway, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

This building isn’t just ours.

It belongs to every family that has supported us over the last ten years.

This year’s event is going to be our biggest one yet.

This year, we’ve also made check-in easier than ever.

Simply scan the QR code when you arrive, enter your name and phone number, and you’re checked in.

You can wait for your haircut or leave and come back when your turn is close.
