Whether you’re eyeing a shimmering bar of artisan soap or a cozy, vanilla-scented swirl, there is often a worry about “color transfer.” Here is the lowdown on two common ingredients:

Mica: The Shimmer Without the Stain

Micas are natural minerals coated with pigment to give soap its vibrant colors and sparkle. Unlike liquid dyes, mica particles are suspended in the soap lather. When you rinse, they wash right down the drain along with the bubbles, leaving your skin clean—not colorful.

Vanillin: Dark Soap, Clear Skin

Vanillin is the component in fragrance oils that gives soap that delicious, warm scent. It is famous for “tanning” soap over time, turning a white bar into a deep chocolate brown. While it changes the color of the soap, it doesn’t behave like a self-tanner. Your skin stays exactly as it is!

The Bottom Line: Use the pretty soap. You get all the aesthetic vibes with none of the “accidental makeover” after-effects. ✨🧼

It is time. I’m rolling out new packaging. These bottles are made of wheat straw, a waste product of harvesting and milling wheat for flour. They are biodegradable and will breakdown in a standard landfill in less than 2 years leaving no petrochemical or microplastics behind. Standard PET plastic bottles take upwards of 400 years to degrade or contribute significantly to air pollution if burned. In order to further our sustainability goals, return this bottle for a discount on a refill. I’ll wash and sterilize it, fill it and bring it back with a $1 discount on the fill.
