A beautifully composed portrait by George A. Locke in Phillipsburg, Kansas, probably taken around 1920 to 1925. Her shorter hairstyle, pearl necklace, and dark satin dress show the transition into the changing fashions of the 1920s.
Long before I knew him as my father, he was this young Marine near the end of World War II. I have no confirmed location for the photograph, but I do have the chance to preserve it, restore it, and see a little more of the person behind the uniform.

This striking portrait by George A. Locke of Phillipsburg, Kansas appears to date to about 1905 to 1915.
Near the end of World War II, my father stood beside this artillery piece in his Marine Corps uniform.
The location is unknown.
This elegant early twentieth century portrait appears to have been taken in a tropical or subtropical setting. From the light suit and broad hat to the open room and tall green shutters, the photograph carries a completely different atmosphere.
