New Release and an update on my health...

1st my health, which is my #1 priority. If your health is not a high priority for you, think again. Without your health, you could lose everything. So anyway, I've had a left leg edema (swollen leg) for the past month. My primary doctor and myself thought this could be related to my BP meds, but he did refer me to a vascular surgeon. I got some of the swelling down through workouts and walking. The surgeon's nurse did find DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) which is basically a blood clot in a vein in my leg. So, he put me on Eliquis which I'll probably have to take for life. This could be caused by the many hours I've spent on the computer or on long drives which both require long hours of sitting.

2nd... This new release! "Bonaventure Cemetery Shell Girl". This is the image on this month's (July) Bonaventure Calendar in case you have a copy of that calendar, but it was cropped to fit the calendar.

The meaning of the shell has a unique awesome history. It's the story of pilgrimage. Starting in the Middle Ages and even up until the present, devout Christians would prove their faith by taking the Pilgrimage of Camino de Santiago or St. James' Way. Christians, especially Catholics, hike specific routes to reach the shrine of St. James (one of Jesus' 12 disciples). To prove they finished the pilgrimage, they would collect scallop shells from Finisterre, just beyond the Shrine of Santiago. The scallop became the symbol of this pilgrimage and markers along the routes now display the scallop shell. From these origins, the scallop shell became a symbol of our own pilgrimage toward heaven and can be used at funerals as well as baptisms where pilgrimage toward heaven starts.

The inscriptions above statue reads "Verily I say unto you whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein" St. Mark 10 CH 15 V.

I’m excited to share a new release: Clam Creek Reflections.

This image was captured in March after a night of absolutely zero sleep, a 3-hour round trip drive, and a full day of scouting locations for the Georgia Nature Photographers Association. It was one of those shoots that took real time, effort, and persistence — but the result made every mile worth it.

What I love most about this scene is the peaceful feeling of the creek, paired with the reflections of the stars and Milky Way shimmering in the water. It’s a quiet moment from Coastal Georgia that reminds me why I keep heading back out into the field.

Thanks to all who came out for The Tybee Art Gallery 's 'Art in the Marsh' event last evening. It turned out to be a great venue for our art in an upscale environment away from our gallery. Thanks to those that accepted my RSVPs. It was not an event open to the public. You had to be invited by one of our artists at our gallery to attend the Venue on this private island. I did invite everyone on my email list. Thanks again to those who came out. It was wonderful meeting you! The beauty of the place only got better toward evening when we had a great sunset. Well... sometimes 'Survival of the Fittest' out in the wild can be a beast. This is a Black Crowned Night Heron eating a Great Egret chick. Seems more acceptable when an Osprey eats a fish, or an egret eats a frog. However, I'm not sure if I'll every look at a Black Crowned Night Heron the same way again. They are now cannibals in my mind.

I was able to get these shots of a Pileated Woodpecker a while back. This is the bird that the famous Woody the Woodpecker cartoon character was modeled after some 87 years ago, and one of only three birds to get on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Can you name the other two?
