As an esthetician, cosmetologist, or waxer performing waxing services itโs important to have an understanding of how the hair forms, grows, and sheds not only to safe and effective do our jobs but also to educate our clients when they have questions in the wax room about how the service is done or about the anatomy of the hair structure(pilosebaceous unit).
The pilosebaceous unit is made of the hair follicle, the hairstrand, the arrector pili muscle and the sebaceous gland.
When you are waxing, you want to pull out hairs with the bulb and sheath still attached. Doing this makes sure that the new hair that comes back will be thin and grow in patches
If you see this, you can be sure that your clients will have less hair growing each time
